Show Background Between Left Column and Content |

I have a narrow horizontal space displaying the background between my header and my content - which I like! I would also like to have a similar vertical space between my left column and my content displaying the background in the same way.
Does anyone know if this can be done and how?
I'm grateful for any replies. Thank you.

Answer: YES
Without url we cant give any real help. Ofcourse we can say that modify CSS and add margin to contetn or sidebar and if there are backgrounds, then you have to remove those and propably add to somewhere else.
Somehow i think that it is tnot enough. If you want more specific answer, please provide url.
