Is there a straight forward way to add more columns to a Joomla Artisteer template?

In short, no. From the digging I did into this you not only have to edit the template index, but also make changes to functions.php - although I never got to the bottom of what the functions.php changes had to be. I assume they vary, hence why I gave up trying and paid someone to do in a couple of hours what I'd struggled with for ages.
I would have thought the ability to have more than 3 columns would be a reltively straightforward programming change to Artisteer. It's a must-have for a future version.

I would like to have five columns as in the webgau face reloaded template http://www.webgau.de/demo/face17/en/ but would settle for four as in the Artisteer Creative Printing Template http://templatefiles.artisteer.com/140/HTML/index.html however the Joomla version just allows for two columns (which you can adjust in layout to three) but I am unable to have four as shown.
How can they show a template with four columns that changes to two when I download it (unless you want it for "Website or Blog".) Where is the Joomla four column version?

You can partition a single article into columns using HTML in it.
Content management systems like Joomla consider template and content two separate entities, Artisteer create templates and you need to input content from your Joomla admin. The content you see while creating a template is dummy and is just for illustration purpose only.
However you can design/add your content in HTML website mode in Artisteer and copy/paste it to Wordpress manually as following: http://www.artisteer.com/Default.aspx?post_id=181385&p=forum_post
