Joomla editor.css bug

I posted this 2 weeks ago to the Joomla board, and sent it to support that day with no response, so I'm hoping this is the right place to get an answer to this. :(

Within the Joomla TinyMCE article editor, there is a styles drop-down box, which is supposed to contain the styles the user can choose from when creating an article. Unfortunately, this drop-down contains all the styles in the entire stylesheet. I edited editor.css (which is supposed to control what is seen there) however, it doesn't change anything.

The styles drop-down box should NOT have all the styles contained within the entire stylesheet. It takes away from the purpose of having the drop-down styles, as one of my clients could make a real mess of their site by selecting the wrong (out of 50) style inadvertently. When there are so many that one can choose from, it's very easy to make a mistake. The purpose of the drop down styles, as called from editor.css is to make sure the site stays consistent, and is easy to match the styles from one page to the next.

Anyone figure out yet where this is called incorrectly, and how to fix it?

Did any of you find a solution to this?

It looks like it's up to the users to find a solution to this. My support ticket to Artisteer was closed without a solution. They said it's very complex, and they don't have an answer. So, for now, you'll just need to apply styles on a page by page basis. This is a very big bug in this software that needs to be addressed.

Hi Barbara,

I believe the issues you have can be rectified by modding the TinyMCE .js files somewhere. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Best advice is to visit Joomla Extensions @

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition/editors

There are a few text editors out there that integrate well in Mambo and Joomla.

Failing that see if you can get an answer from the TinyMCE Forums @

http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/punbb/index.php.

Hope this helps.

In all likelyhood, this is not specifically an Artisteer issue. The editor that you are using in Joomla is probably TinyMCE. I prefer JCE but that is besides the point.

You will be able to find controls on how TinyMCE manages the backend editor in the TinyMCE plugin (Extensions/Plugins/Editor - TinyMCE).

Notice the "Template CSS classes" and "Custom CSS Classes" fields. These 2 fields govern how the editor will look and where it gets its list of classes from .

Artisteer as of version 2.3, does not produce a editor.css file. You need to create it yourself. AND you must set "Template CSS classes" to NO.
