I totally respect you folks for wanting to see e107 represented.

And to tell you the truth I really have no interest in whether they do so or not.

However, I am interested in a particular aspect of this thread.
I see what can only be termed as "religious" support for e107.
So I promptly went over to their home page and checked out
the demo, it was a pretty basic CMS. I noticed the whole design
of the backend and layout of the themes seemed slanted towards
getting your first page out the door and published and as I said before
it seemed a rather basic CMS.

So, I'm wondering why there is such a clamor for this CMS.
Certainly the community over at Concrete 5 can yell just as loud
and they have a slick gui based layout system.

Yet nearly 300 posts here vociferously support adding e107 template
export to artisteer.

If there are many other basic CMSs out there such as Frog, Typolight, Cms Made Simple, and Modx to name a few promising ones.

What makes e107 uniquely special among this host of lightweight contenders?

My questions are these:

Is the enthusiasm for e107 truly based on some inherent merit of e107 which is heretofore undiscovered? Or is all this enthusiasm really just the attachment which results after a particularly frustrating experience with some other solutions?

The odds of a community of e107 users descending on Extensoft's forums
specifically to tout a template export option are probably slim.

Hence we can assume that there are a substantial number of e107 installations, even though such data is hard to come by on google.

If anyone here has links to such data, please enlighten us, who are scratching our heads over where this sudden group of users came from.

So let's be honest, what is it? What's the killer app feature of this CMS?
Is it simple provincialism that makes you support the CMS, is it a frustrating bout with Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal? That has left you vowing never to touch the big 3 again?

Please clear away my confusion, because I went looking for the reason
you all so enthusiastically want e107 to be an export option and didn't find anything amazing as far as e107 itself warranting such a following.

Perhaps it's not the software at all, perhaps it's the culture around the software.

Are the advanced users of e107 a very altruistic group?

Again, I ask this with all due respect.

What is the reason?

In my opinion: e107 is an easy-to-use CMS, it is one of the fastest loading CMS that i use (Joomla uses allot of server resources).

The plugins are easy to install and the administration area is also easy to use for people that doesn't have a big understanding of a CMS system.

The disadvantage of this product seems that it is hard to create a theme for this system. Therefore +90% of the themes available on this CMS are very simple.

Hmmmmm....

I'm trying to understand why this forum isn't filled with requests from other
CMS users such as CMS made simple, and Frog.

What seems to be emerging as the reason is that, those systems
allow their users to edit the template much more easily.

Hence they don't even use artisteer, and that's why we don't see them
on the forum.

So that brings me to the next question....

Is artisteer used mainly by non-professionals?
Are professionals essentially staying away from it?

If they are, then why?

If they're not, then... why aren't they represented?

It's a conundrum...

Why would a professional use a limited artisteer?

Who is we?

Yes i am a e107 user, yes i use 2 of the 3 other 'big' ones too.
Yes i am able to do themeing. Some easier stuff that could do it for me, was certainly worth while looking at. (will not say i would use it, it depends of course my needs and possibilities # time saving).

Hey, its the same from notepad to dreamweaver...

The assumption : basic cms in comparison to ??
The 'big' 3 ones ? they are as simple too. With lesser community 'feel'.

Just a point of USER view overall.

Why should pro's or non-pro's stay away from it ? Assumption misleading?
Should THEY develope such software? Artisteer wants to make money, this is a way to.

Now assume that Artisteer could do it (not all Artisteer users of other systems are that pleased with it yet for 100%) it shows; would certainly have an impact of the themers (pro's) who earn a living making theme layouts.
HEY the keyword i guess : commerce.
The same 'revolution'is present looking at the commerce field. OSc is loosing ground of Magneto..
WHY ?
:-|

I stop now, will be a long listing : so yes please, a e107 version of E107 would be nice
The use depends...

I for one have tried a number of CMS programs. After playing around with them I picked e107. It does what I want, it does it well and is very easy to use. I would love to get in there and learn the coding for it so I could fix a few things I do not like about my theme but I just do not seem to have the time these days.
Now if Artisteer ports the e107 I will buy it and have some fun working with my site. Even if it came down to the need to buy a "plugin" for e107 on top of the cost of the editor.

I will keep an eye on the site to see if it ever does get e107

I disagree that e107 is only used by a handful of people. Most of my fellow webmasters only use e107, and with the price of Artisteer, it is just within their budget. I've also had multiple prospective clients ask me if I can create e107 templates for them and had to turn them down because I'm addicted to the time-saving method of using Artisteer to quick-create my templates. I would actually make a killing on affiliate sales if Artisteer was extended to export to e107. It couldn't be that hard to implement, could it?

I forgot to mention that it was the Standard license I was referring to when I said "It is just within their budget". Obviously can't use a Home license for business use anyway. Just thought I'd mention that because it means more revenue.

Response Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.
We do not have plans to include the support for e107 now, but we have released an SDK that allows external developers create an Artisteer plug-ins to enable export to different CMSs:
http://www.artisteer.com/?p=dev

So maybe someone will create an plug-in for e107.

Response I think you are missing a huge market because there are lots of clans that use this system and they aren't included in google or alexa ratings/statistics also lots of other markets would consider buying artisteer if you included support for E107.

Still i think you should add more cms systems because what you offer it is not that much also blogger is declining in use and i see more tumblr.
