Well, right out of the box, responsive seems to be broken.

How so?

I'm pretty stoked in some ways, they fixed 2 of my problems I sent to support. Nice!
Responsive broken, that's not good. If that's true I can't update to fix my 2 problems. Bah
Jrgweb, can you elaborate?

Everything seems to be over lapping. Menu items, shapes and Headline.
don't remember this being a problem before.
Are you having the same issue or just me?

I just realized it was out. Have not even installed yet.

Seems to be wroking fine with the template I'm working with right now. I've noticed that sometimes things go bust when you open up a old template with a new Artisteer version, maybe that's what happened to you?

jrgweb

Just verified. I didn't have this problem before!!
Okay, somebody let me know if they are having the same issue before I un-install and re-install.

@Kris - I did open old templates but also used the default blank template. Same problem on all templates. Maybe just a bad install.

I can install and try in an hour.

I always do a complete uninstall (remove folders, clean the register) before I install a new version of Artisteer it leaves a lot of junk otherwise.

@Kris - I do the same. Have done this twice now. Also downloaded twice to different directories just in case one download was corrupt.
Same problem!! Both installs.

@jrgweb Sorry to hear that. Have you tried emptying the browser cache? (I take it the issue occurs when you do a preview from within Artisteer.) Probably not what's causing it but otherwise I have no idea whats going on with your install.

@Kris - Yes, multiple times.

I can verify that the responsive header area is broken. I have a headline, slogan and search field and they are all overlapping and displayed on one line in responsive view. This area was weak before, but is now unusable!

Are you send this bug to support?
|
|
jrgweb

@Ismcswain - Thank you for the verification. I've have sent a support ticket already. The more people that send in a bug report the better.
I've installed and re-installed 3 times now.

I actually just noticed that the search-box on the default template is overlapping (or underlapping) the title when I resize the window. I usually just hide the title and put a logo there instead so I didn't think of it.

Okay, I went back to 4.1.0.59688

Okay, I got a response from support (Tina B.) and they want a screen shot and the artx file but I have already removed the latest version from my system.
Can anyone else send them the needed file and screen shot? If not I guess I'll re-install and send.

I just opened a support ticket and sent the .artx file and a screenshot of the responsive site taken from an IPhone. I will let you know their response.

Here is the screenshot of the responsive site...assuming I inserted this correctly.

Kris, I confirm the problem. There is a quick fix though. In this version, the RSS, Facebook, and Twitter controls are displayed (and correctly) in all layouts (Desktop, Laptop, and phone).
So, until this gets fixed, don't use the Headline and slogan, but go to the Controls menu, and upload a logo to replace the image for the RSS. Then head back to the Header menu, and insert this RSS control (which will be your logo of course). Now, the logo will be displayed correctly in all layouts.
One step forward, and one step backwards I'm afraid.I just can't believe a major bug like this was not detected by quality control. Do they have any to begin with?

Intersting Nick that worked.
WHY do they not give us a control for a logo in the same manner?
|
|
Kris
|
Thanks for the tip Nick! And yes I agree with Raymee that a feature for handling logotypes (and not just images) would be nice.

Thanks Raymee and Kris. I am sure they will - eventually. They are facing with many issues right now, that's probably why.
There are still some issues, I will post tomorrow after a day of testing... But let's not forget what they are facing with - so we can appreciate Artisteer better and have some added patience. It seems that their v4.0 agenda and goals were too big for them to handle, namely the css3, html5 and responsive design. They are in big trouble with the Mac. versions - in short, they are stuck. The SDK system they set up with v4.0 did not take off as expected. Even they can't use it to create some of the plugins promised from last summer (prestashop, magento, etc...) - remember those promises? On top of that because of how they operate - very closed, weak support team, etc... they are facing with credibility, marketing, and perception issues. They always get it right in the end, it just seems that "the end" will not be anytime soon. However, Artisteer is the best for what it does, and I depend on it, daily.
There were huge jquery conflict issues with v.4.0 beta2, which they never admitted, publicly or privately through support, but things got better with every new version. I am very eager to see how those conflicts are handles now, if things got even better, or eradicated altogether...

WOW

That there is some hella testing when the default theme is broken in responsive mode.

Another problem that I just find out, that also exists with V4.1 beta and it's a HUGE problem.
I have a Nexus 7 tablet. Now, this tablet has a resolution of 1280x800px. One would think that the web site would be displayed in the dektop layout right? Wrong. It is displaying in the tablet layout (regular menus, but the sidebars are below the content, and the header is displayed according to the tablet view).
With this tablet, I also checked with other responsive design templates, not Artisteer made but by elegant themes, and these themes are shown correctly with the desktop view. As a matter of fact, the Artisteer template sites show up perfectly on this tablet when the responsive design is turned off.
Is there anyone out there experiencing similar problems with other tablets, (ipad, ipad mini, etc...)?
If a tablet has a higher resolution than 1024px, then the regular desktop layout should be displayed. The 2 responsive layouts should only be reserved for devices with lower resolutions. Everybody else's web sites work that way...
Again, how did something like this pass the quality testing?
