I think if you wander around the forum, you'll see a lot of happy users... so no point in being snippy.

What can't you open? the generated html files? the .artx file?

Have you read the instructions?

Speaking for myself, this is not a wast of cash at all... the amount of time it has saved me has paid for the product many times over.

I am really sad. I downloaded a trial version, and the "watermark" makes a big shit from the site. If it would a real watermark, then it would be okay for the advertising but this... a "T" letter in the colored spaces everywhere.

I don't like when I am pushed to buy something. For that money I can ask a really good expert to do this job without any limitation.

Thanks

Dora, are you really serious?

You get to try a version of a product, and you are complaining about watermarks on the output files? No one is pushing you to buy anything. If you like the functionality of a product, not get something for free.

You won't get a really good expert to design something for you for free.

The value of this product for those who create sites for Wordpress or HTML sites is really incredible.

And to Jan, yes, there are MANY users using this product with much success and I am one of them.

Not to mentiont he fact it is clearly stated that the download version 'watermarks' the files, so it shouldn't be a suprise.

Would you be so kind as to let us know where we can find this "really good expert" to come up with as many web templates as I want for a one time fee of $100?

Oddly enough, I'm using some backwater NAMO web editor and pages created with Artisteer open just fine. Maybe it's just the usual - crappy MS and "I"m Holier than Thou" Adobe programs having a fit because THEY are not compatible with most normal software out there. O:)

Well, i opened this topic, and have had some emails from support.
They claim that they can view my website in MS Expression.

But i haven't had any good expression yet, i ca see the code in MS Expression, but the preview is totally messed up.

I have also tried GoLive and Dreamveawer, without succes.

Is there any other preview programs i can use?
Or is the money just wasted? :-@

I am an Artisteer customer. I bought it over a month ago and have used it successfully over and over again with Dreamweaver (studio 8 version). I think this software rocks.

I can understand the frustration that a person might go through with a software program that they are having trouble with, but I've never had a lick of trouble with this program and find it exceptionally easy to work with. I've designed about a dozen of my sites with it now (need to get a hard count, but off the top of my head at least 8).

For $100 I don't think you can touch the value of this software anywhere else, and I've looked all over for something like this for the last 3 years. Personally, I feel like finding this product at Blogworld justified the cost of that trip entirely. (and I found some other cool things there as well)

Pardon me if I sound like a fanboy, but seriously this software rocks.

I'd be more than happy to build some screencast or youtube tutorial videos on how to do things with this software. I haven't done that yet because I assumed that the software was so easy that the videos might not be beneficial and hence I'd get no traffic from it. (don't think there is an affiliate program with the software either, so my time and effort would be hard to make up).

That said, if people are 'really' having problems with it, maybe there would be an audience for this and I'll look at it again. :)

I don't think so

I did not have any problems in opening the templates in Expression web. The only problem I ran into was working in FrontPage 2003
FP03 did not display the CSS correctly.

Just to add to the comment above about web design prices - I work for a design company, and WE don't even do websites for $200. I think the cheapest we'll do a site for is like $1,500, so this is definitely one heck of a program for the price!

I see two issues which are preventing the HTML from being opened and displayed properly in Dreamweaver:

1) The CSS file has script hacks injected into it (YUK)

2) Artisteer code is using all positioned divs instead of floats. This is a recipe for disaster. If they were using floats, this would solve item 1 above.

I am considering this software. I would like to have floats in the CSS too. Will that be added and when?

@ Dan - There are no script hacks anywhere in this code. I've read this accusation in 5 places here on these forums but you offer no kind of proof, code or anything else that supports what you say.

I've built dozens of sites using this tool and been thru almost every line of code and there is nothing hidden in any of the functions or PHP anywhere.

So, if you want to send me examples of the 'hacks' you are claiming exist, send them to me privately at info AT stuntmusic DOT com

I will look at what you have found.

Hi Dan

I'm wavering on whether to buy this app or not, so I'm also very interested in this script injection, it if is true.

Please could you privately send me the details too?

Artisteer software uses Microsoft dynamic CSS which causes the CSS to not validate.

Artisteer should be using conditionals and javascript files instead, shame on them.

Here are some links for more info:

Dan,

Glad you posted that.

It's not malicious script, they use Microsoft Expressions code in the CSS, whcih can be edited and removed... and it allows the CSS to be W3c valid.

Oh I understand now. I thought it was a hidden script for bad purposes, but now I see it is just for IE6 compatibility.

Anyway, I agree that in the next version, they should try and make it more standards compliant.

Dreamweaver has an issue with the code Artisteer uses for some of the Microsoft Expressions technology.

You have one of two choices.

1. Remove the code from the CSS which is causing the problem. There are threads that discuss this.

2. Use a different web editor. Dreameweaver doesn't like the Artisteer code (or code generated with SiteGrinder and a few other web based tools)

When I open web Artisteer with expression and everything off the menu buttons sfodi
all are placed in a confused. there is a way to set Express Web with files Artisteer? I tried but I think that Artisteer and Expression Web sio two things completely different (working two different programming languages). with Dreamweaver CS3 does not work (and slow), with Expression Web Artisteer open, but everything is so disorderly and impossible to work.
Do you have any solutions? thanks

Why is my exported html file in Expression Web messed up but looks ok in all the browsers? It makes it difficult to edit the content that way. I bought Artisteer 'cause I had the opposite problem after creating a custom template in Expression Web...looked good in EW but messed up in the browsers. Should I expect the Artisteer template and design view in EW to look the same and if so any ideas why it isn't? I AM opening the right file so that's not the problem.

thx!

Debbi
