Please don't reward Bud's bad business practices and disappearing act by giving him another penny.

Templateer, even the latest (last) version, is old and breaks things. You're better off investing in WP Tux. At least it's a lifetime license and the author just release a new version.

Why do people keep going on about Tuxedo replacing templateer?

It doesn't offer any post loop / content layout options which was the main point of templateer.

They say they are "developing" this, but they have been saying this since its launch a couple of years ago.

@ Adam

Trevor is the author of WP Tux, not me. I don't want to come across as a fanboy or whatever. I don't want to be the guy who's the WP Tux cheerleader on the Artisteer forums. I'm just a fan.

With the lifetime license, I don't know if it specifically mentioned but implied across various posts. If that's not the case, I'd be more surprised than anyone else. At the very least, you get free updates for WP Tux 1.x. If he releases 2, do we get that? I think we do but maybe I'm wrong.

I've said this before but I'll say it again. I really liked Templateer. I was a huge fan. I would have preferred Bud to continue things and not disappear but that's not the reality. He's gone and has been for years. Even if he does return, I don't trust him. I can't believe his site is still up and he's accepting money!

Do people even realize that Templateer v4.2 isn't even the final version? His site states "Features planned for the final release of Artisteer v4.2…" and then "To be continued…" He never finished it even though we're up to Artisteer 4.3.

If there is a debate between buying Templateer or WP Tux, there shouldn't be. Trevor deserves our support.

@ Why

Last I remember using Templateer, the layouts were buggy. Many didn't even work. I think many of the Magazine layouts were buggy.

The new WP Tux beta added both theme and column shortcodes to WP for post loop / content layout options. As an example: [tux-list-posts category="name" grid="1"] where name is the name of the category you want displayed.

There's also a grid-row and grid-column but I haven't found any documentation on how to use the shortcodes. For now, its trial and error.

You' were definite right about that, 2-Cents. Thanks!

I see Trevor quickly delivers in feature requests and is also quick in his responses to questions. He even wrote code for me to deal with a 3rd party plugin unrelated to WP Tux with instructions how to add it -- now, that is over-delivering.

Seems as you be better to invest your money in Themler. You would find some peace of mind doing this. Artisteer is out, so they are all addons working with Artisteer.

If nothing register on Themler forum and vote for all new options you would like to see in Themler. They value all those votes and work according to this.

WWW, what do you mean, "Artisteer is out"? Was there an announcement to that effect? Artisteer and Themier are under the same ownership .

Yeah I have to say avoid Templateer, when I purchased it last year (I went by old reviews, should of done more thorough research :( ) I contacted Bud and got replies to my problems, sadly the only solutions offered were 'downgrade your Artisteer to an older version.'
Responses stopped when I asked about plans to support newer Artisteer version and that it makes more sense for an addon to keep up with the program it is designed for and seemed crazy to expect users to downgrade their main software.
Not something I have experienced with addon software before, it generally keeps up with it's core product. The quality of the site should of been a warning to me. Confusingly laid out, with different versions and notes all over the place.

But yeah amazing that the site is still up and the software is still being sold despite being clearly out of date. At the time of purchase was no mention of license and expiry dates either which now seem to appear on my account.

Essentially flushed my money down the toilet, as I haven't been able to use the software at all, even when I tried it in the recommended Artisteer version it was broken, buggy and not working as advertised. See the price has been drastically reduced now also.

I for one will not be renewing my license or be touching any software made by this Bud guy again. I feel ripped off.

Again it's buyer beware, avoid Templateer at all cost is my advice.
Much better software out there that is not only up to date but has better support.

I really liked Templeteer with the old Artisteer and was upset when it asked me to renew, which I did and then ended up not working or having any support.
