The charset attribute on the link element is obsolete. Use an HTTP Content-Type header on the linked resource instead.

I tried the above like this:

...stylesheet.css" type="text/css""/> <meta charset="UTF-8"/>


but that didn't work either, I still got an error

Just remove it. It's really not that big of an error. Http headers are probably utf-8 anyhow, check them if you want
