Ok, very disappontted of this release!

One good thing is that Online mode against piracy. That is the way it has to go! There are really no harm for people with subscription.. Big plus for that!

But thoise negatives are really bad..

1. Joomla Tags are not working at all, they are not even presented.. So the only way is to delete whole default.php and replace it by Joomlas own and do every style again.. Smart and effective!!! only few hours of work time..

2. Script.js file have a new error in Joomla line 1159 "TypeError: sheet is null
error source line:
[Break On This Error]

var sheetLeft = sheet.offset().left;"! Dont they have firebug at all??

3. Responsive design are getting better but are useless at teh moment. Contetnt should come first, not last!

4. You cant style anything related to responsive designs.

5. etc..

I dont get this.. This took 6 months to make and we did nt even get bugs fixed! Thumblr.... Jep.... I think they should focus to people who are making money with this software, not people who are making one site for blog! If they wanna get paying customers, then that would be the best way to go.

I have been paying this software for many years (I think the fors version was 2.0..). But now it seems that i have to move forward.. One year ago i can say that i used Artisteer almost every site i made, but now it is maybe 50%. And it is counting. Propably i leave this totally outside because support is very bad! We do not get any bugfixes.. Dont say this is BETA, of course it is, but if ouy make templates for Joomla, stable version is broken and you have to use beta version anyway (script.js problem in stable version).

I have to say that i´m not very happy customer right now!

Me too, but I think it's worse for Artisteer if you are too (you are one of the most helpful people here, without you helping out, half the users would appear not to be able to use the darn thing anyway!).

ps. Thanx for all you have done in that regard (didn't need the help myself, but find such things - even embedded within a forum that can be quite, errr, uncivil at times - quite re-assuring on the human nature side of things...).

I really hope they listen, but am prepared to get on with my life without upgrading from 4.1 at this point...

Also disappointed.

I have been using Artisteer for several years too.. Overall it is a great tool but the bugs can make one crazy.

In the previous version of Artisteer 4 I suddenly started getting an error when i tried to access the export options.

Support was very quick with a reply and suggested I downloaded the Beta version... This I did.

I spent a whole day building a full site in Artisteer. Then I exported it :-@

I imported the content into Joomla! and what a disaster... Nothing worked. The header was missing the Menu did not show... etc.. Seemed like I lost connection with the server or something while exporting.

So I tried again ... now I keep getting an error "Unknown Product error 302"

At the moment i am waiting to hear from support. .....

My feeling is that this whole having to be connected to the internet when exporting a template is going to become a problem. If the Artisteer server is overloaded or offline then this might be our future.

I am against piracy and pay for my software. Let's keep the pirates out but dudes... look after your paying customers!

Wow.. If this is the reaction from such experienced users.. what can n00bs like me expect!!

I don't think I'll be upgrading soon, then.. I understand the piracy issue but having a connection every time I need to export a template!? That's really not done, I use Artisteer on my desktop which doesn't have a regular internet connection.

I hope Artisteer listens to the experienced users like JK if not to everyone.

Although I've used Artisteer since v2.1, I, too, really appreciate your input jkwebdesign. I'm no code guru so have gotten stumped in the past and it's people like you that have gotten me out of a whole.

It's sad to see the experienced talent leaving, but understandable given the announced direction.

So to all those who have been loyal and giving to the rest of us less code-inclined a HUGE thank you!

Thanks, it is nice to hear that i have helped so many.. :*)

I have tested this little more now. It isnt worse than previous version but almost nothing has changed. Few new bugs have come so maybe it would be smart to use latest 4.1 test version for joomla templates.

On thing that makes me worried is that they have thinked to quit development.. what about my money? All this because of piracy, and i think it isnt biggest problem to artisteer. Just make gustomers happy not angry! It doesnt help you with costs if you are bringing new cms and softawares to supported list, please make existing to work.

I have one idea that i have tested today and it seems promising. Im making mods of those default.php files in html folder with joomlas default files. It will make this much better and brings you all joomla features, example tags, article images, links, working author link etc. And it will be easily updated to new joomla versions. Biggest advantage is that it will work like joomla should work.

I have no idea is it possible to do with plugin for artisteer but it will be easy to override with ftp. I will inform this more in the future if i get it working that it is easy to use. It is working for me but i have to test it more that you can use it easily too.

I am a a little disappointed with release as well. I have used gantry and T3 framework for joomla and I see how polished they are. I have been using Artisteer for 2 Years now, this is the most underwhelming release in my opinion.

Responsive:
I am sure these guys have heard about twitter bootstrap for responsive templates, the bootstrap code is out there please use it. Cotent is the most important not modules.

Moving to the future, I will begin to use the css generated by Artisteer to style other frameworks to speed up development.
Artisteer, on this release 4.2, low score to you.

Disappointing to hear the tags issue has not been resolved. This is a great introduction to Joomla and I cant use it.

I contacted support and asked for a workaround, if there is one.

Looks like there is no point upgrading to the beta version yet

@shariya : why is the anti piracy making you mad ? I have no problems with it at all, as you normaly won't be confronted with this layer in the software.

We also use artisteer since version 3. but at the moment we disappointed, too. sure, we use artisteer just for those costumers which won't spend so much for a template.

we think there is also a other way to fight against piracy. for example, register the user and activation code and just who bought artisteer can register here in the forum. if you combine emailadress and activation code, then someone will think twice to give some strangers his emailadress and his ac.

we are faced also with some Trouble with artisteer. for example, if we made a slider as wide as the Website, then you can place pic in it like you want. this is just an example.

we can just underline what jk wrote. he speak from our heart. we would be happy, if artisteer is going to fix "real" Problems, instead going to expand to other systems like thubler or similiar.

change line 1191 in script.js from

var sheet = $('.art-sheet');

to
var sheet = jQuery('.art-sheet');

Error gone and responsive design works :-)

It is weird that so obvious errors get to release.. it is beta but still.

I've just upgraded to this new beta version and some of my problems are now solved.
I might get dissapointed in a couple of years, too, haha, but as a newcomer I find this stuff really helpful.
Piracy is a problem and I'm also a paying customer. Artisteer is very inexpensive so website developers earn its price on one small job. Internet access is not a problem right now - and you need one to install your website template anyway.
I can't name any better tools at the moment.
