Hi Natalie
I see a few posts like this and maybe you can help me understand why anybody would want to import content with their theme?
For me anyways, the whole point of wordpress and themes is that you create your content within wordpress, and then use themes to change how it is displayed.
Why is it important to you to import content with your themes???

Speedyp, because I don't know the codes to make my homepage look like the one in artisteer. All I want is the homepage content.
I have a feeling its my templateer plugin that is conflicting with exporting the content, does anyone know how to uninstall it?

Make sure you are including content with the theme while exporting.

None of the "answers" to Natalie's question are worth anything. Artisteer claims to now be a total theme creation tool including content so the site can be completely designed within Artisteer and then uploaded ready to go.
I am having the same problem as Natalie. The content, even content in a starter theme provided within Artisteer does not show up when uploaded to my Wordpress installation. And, I did both export the content and select include content when the theme was installed.
If this is a bug in Artisteer 4, either fix it or stop advertising it as a feature.

Forget Content Creation in Artisteer.
Why is this necessary?
Just Design it...and then export.

I think there's a disconnect going on here somewhere.
I've important content before and know what these guys are talkin' about.
In some cases it's easier to write or copy and paste content directly into the theme in Artisteer and create everything in Artisteer and then try to just upload everything as it is in the Artisteer theme you've created including all the text and images and so on.
I've done this successfully, but then found out I could create new pages but they simply would not show up on any of the menus. So it's touchy.

I found that I had to go to Appearance/Customize/Navigation and change the menu option.
This then gave me an option to bring in my content and showed it in the pages.
Not sure if this helps but it seemed to work for me.

I found this solution:
delete the Artisteer theme from themes menu and after from server (wp-content/themes)
go to the wp-admin dir and REPLACE this files:
themes.php
theme-install.php
theme-editor.php
with the original files from a clean copy of your wordpress version
afther this, import e new theme from wordpress and activate it, after that the wordpress require again to IMPORT YOUR CONTENT!
ciao!!!!

Just to pipe in with my solution... I have found that Wordpress SEO by Yoast prevents the content from importing.
I have tested a deactivation of WPSEO and then installing the template and it allows me to import content no problem.
Hope that helps some of you... I am excited to FINALLY be able to contribute other than just asking for help.

By the way, folks. The answer from Belly Itcher was not only correct and a solution, it was friendly and appropriate. I found many answers to be rather pompous and designed to make someone feel like an idiot for even venturing to ask. Shame on you all. If we can't help each other regardless of our particular prowess with any tool, why even bother to step in to the forums in the first place.
Just my thoughts. Take them or leave them.

Quote Natalie Alvarez:
Someone please help, the first time I exported my wordpress theme with it's content, wordpress asked me if I wanted to "add content" once I activated the theme. I have since tried to change the theme and wordpress is no longer giving me the option to add the content.
I have deleted the other theme but I'm not sure if I may need to delete its content also, I've tried that but it hasn't worked.
What am I missing?

Hello guys,
I'd recommend that you contact Artisteer support directly about this issue and provide them with your Artisteer themes.

I know this is an old post, but since I still use Artisteer 4.3 and ran into this issue with WP, figured I'd share my solution. I did not have Yoast SEO so that was not a solution in my case. Deleting and adding back theme did not work either because my updated-in-Artisteer theme* managed to make the zip file too big to import.
So solution?
1) uploaded the entire theme (including content) via ftp to the server in a new theme folder
2) navigated to themes in WP and activated the new theme
3) at this point still did not have content but stumbled on the fact that if I now go to "Pages / All Pages" in WP, click on the home page to edit (probably could have been any page at that point), and voila! WP popped in with a message at the top of the screen asking me if I wanted to import content! I said yes, and all the magic happened.
* (To answer the non-too-nice commentary above about why the heck would I re-edit content in Artisteer instead of WP directly at that point? Because the site was under development and the client made a heck of a lot of changes including adding a bunch more pages which made going back into Artisteer easier to create the child navigation not to mention keeping all the styling correct.)

Hi Kate,
simply brilliant, you saved my day!
YES I have exactly the same reason for working with content in Artisteer!
(unfriendly comments? I simply choose to ignore them)

I had a similar issue with a free website template which I was using some time ago. When I switched to those themes from http://www.templatemonster.com everything started working great. Maybe you should choose another theme too...

Just out of curiosity; I noticed the original post was made in 2013 and one of the best answers/solutions was posted only in 2016!. Did anyone contact the customer support to address this issue and got a sound answer? I dont see authors of Artisteer chiming in the forum.
Customer Support is important for me and I dont want to start Artisteering only to realize I am stuck without a solution. thanks for your feedback.
