If you dont it will use whatever you put as a local address so will have your site url in full followed by whatever you entered (so you have to put in either a local address, which can be a bad idea especially when using SEF as this can go wrong in imaginary sub-folders in the url, or use the full address including http to force it to load exactly what you entered). Of course, I am just guessing as you haven't given much info... hope it helps..?
