None of the popular forum software as you put it support Artisteer templates, you have to convert the templates manually which is easy, provided they use straight up html files for templates. For php based templating systems, there is a plugin in the marketplace to help you with that conversion...

In the meantime, you can use the bbpress plugin with WordPress, as I'm sure there are some other similar solutions.

I rarely have a need for forums, but my choices are to either use Quickersite which is for windows servers, and it has a very capable forum module in it, and it accepts Artisteer templates, or use WordPress with a forum plugin (bbpress).

My problem is I do not want to use WP, I have heard many times that you can design a regular website with WP and have it not look like a Word Press site, I have yet to find a site that doesn't look like a WP blog.

I don't want that look, I will check into your suggestion though

You were definitely looking at some amateur blogs. If done correctly you can make WordPress look and function to anything you like. You can even turn off the blogging altogether and use it as a cms, or even like a forum software as you wanted.

WP started as a blogging tool, but it's way more than that now. The only thing left to say that WP is not a setup and forget software. You will need to constantly updating it, or getting the risk of getting hacked. That said I have not seen a forum software that is hack proof. They all have security issues.

Nonesense.

A lot of regular sites use wordpress but you won't be able to tell because they look like regular sites.

Get it now?
