Solution for another unnoticed bug

Artisteer has probably the best Login widget. However the widget's register link points to wp-register.php. This file was replaced by wp-signup.php some time ago, by wp-signup.php.

So, if your WP site allows registrations, and you are using an Artisteer template's Login Widget, if you try to register to the site with the widgets register link, you will get the shocking 404 error. Thankfully, there is a simple fix.

Open the file widgets.php from the library folder of your theme, and do a quick search for wp-register.php, and replace it with wp-signup.php.

If your WordPress is updated from earlier versions, there are good chances that you still have the wp-register.php file, you will encounter this bug with new WP 3.4.x installations. That said though, there must be a reason (security perhaps?) why WordPress got away from this file, so you decide how you want to approach this problem.

Thanks Nick, very useful you post of two year ago. Why hasn't Artisteer addressed this issue yet?

It is 2014 ! Remember?

Thanks Nick. Very useful! Like Dxtrim said was 2014 when he posted and now it's 2015 and Artisteer has still not addressed this issue!

For many reasons, including this one, if you are an Artisteer and WordPress user, you need to create your own export plugin from scratch, or simply use WP-Tuxedo. The value of that plugin is priceless to me.

As a result, you get to replace the buggy Artisteer's WordPress export plugin, with clean php code, that passes the themcheck.org tests with flying colors. As a result, my themes get a score of 100%, while Artisteer generated themes get a lowly 67%. As one of the results, there are many plugins that simply refuse to work with Artisteer generated themes. I don't have that problem, with my WP-Tuxedo generated themes...

Nick,

Question.... I purchased WP-Tuxdedo and installed it. After generating my 1st theme I found that the plugin does not allow for the vertical side menu widget to work or the Artisteer login widget

Hi Mark,

Everything works fine on my end. There are good chances that something else is causing this... like another plugin. If you want me to help you diagnose and fix this problem, please post it in the Tuxedo forums.
