Featured image as excerpt thumbnail?

Using v3.x

I have an issue with my category archive excerpts showing double images.

I have activated the "use featured image as thumbnail" option, because. I want my posts' featured images to be used as the thumbnails in category archives / excerpts.

The problem is that if a post contains an image in the post content, this is displayed as well, alongside the featured image thumb, which looks a bit rubbish, so my archive excerpts show a small thumb (the featured image) beside a larger version of the first image found in the post.

Question: How can I juse just the featured image as the one and only excerpt thumbnail?

Hi, speedyp,

Haven't tried but what if you applied "Apply excerpt tag filter" in theme options. The img isn't allowed, but I don't belive that affects the thumb.

Welcome back Abland.

Yeah, I've been experimenting with the tags filter. Yes, it does sort out the double images in the excerpts but... it messes up the format of my gallery posts.

I have 2 main categories - news & products. The news posts are just normal blog posts with an image added to the page.

The products category have some pre-formatted styling, with a couple of divs - one on the left for an image gallery, and one on the right for a product description.

When I filter the tags, the product post excerpts get the gallery code printed -

"Galleria.loadTheme('http://solution.givemebetterwebsites.com/wp-content/plugins/image-gallery-reloaded/themes/classic/galleria.theme.min.js');Galleria.run('#galleria'); "

...At the top of every excerpt.

Maybe there's something I can add to filter out the code, but no idea what??

Can't edit posts :-<

I have a bit of code which automatically sets the featured image for every post. Ideally I would have all my excerpts use the featured image as the thumbnail, but this doesn't seem possible with artisteer, even though there is a "use featured image as thumbnail" option.

Hi, speedyp,

Try adding div and script to the allowed tags.

You know what I find that is the problem with these community help forums.

Lack of community or help. See I have this same issue and I'm no closer to getting it resolved even after reading this.

The OP selfishly solved their issue without coming back and explaining what they did to solve it.

So let me give you a lesson is SEO when a person like me searches for a solution to a problem in google they come here and hope to get it resolved.

You think you could lay out the exact code to use and exactly where to put it?

All I want is the content image not to show on the latest post list with the featured image but still have the content image show as normal in single post view.

You would think the devs. would have gotten their crap together on this. As I don't have this issue with other themes only with Artisteer.
