Yes, when will be released a patch ... there are a lot of things that need to be fixed ...

Now are more than one month after the first 4.0 release ...

I need to start as soon as possible with real web projects!

Thanks for a reply.

To make it clear let's write what should be fixed. I'll add two points:

- general performance - 4.0 is slow and crashes very often
- better IE 8 compatibility - IE8 is not dead...yet :)

Please include the ability to add hyperlinks to images inserted in the header. This has been a long time coming where the logo needs to be clickable to the home page or otherwise.

Also note that after theme is installed, the override footer option in Theme Options comes with html problems where div tags or something is not closed properly.

Thanks

You know I was very disappointed with the IE8 decision at first. However I have not seen any significant problems with it except cosmetic. So it is a old technology and maybe should be forgotten. The more I see the potential with html5 and css3 and the fact that the content renders in IE8 people will just have to live without the gradients or whatever small deficits. It will be replaced soon enough.

Bottom line is why should they spend the resources developing a solution for a browsers that will be unsupported in a couple years. No one should still be using IE6/7 but for some reason they continue to.

Unless I am missing something, what is not functioning besides a visual style?

Just my two cents but that's how I see it. I hope they make the changes for you but it's better for all if you could just maybe find $399 for a Win7 box...

I didn't mean MY computer, system or browser. I do not develop sites for myself but for my clients. Clients wants their sites to display properly on any popular browser. It's obvious. IE8 is, according to statistics, still very popular (10% of "browser market" share). Some statistics:

Poland: (my country):http://www.ranking.pl/en/rankings/web-browsers.html
Denmark: http://www.rankings.dk/en/rankings/web-browsers.html
Russia: http://www.rankingru.com/en/rankings/web-browsers.html
MENA region: http://www.rankingmena.com/en/rankings/web-browsers.html

I just can't tell my client not to worry about 10% of his visitors.

I understand that some css3/html5 features can't be implemented in IE8 (text shadows for example). But some other effects, that were present in Artisteer 3 are missing. It's all functiong off course but visually it often looks ...bad.

Artisteer 3 had support fo IE6 and 7. I wish 4.0 will have support for IE8.

Yes it is... at least for any one wanting to live in a time that exists after 1999...

Like it or not, IE8 is still the most used browser. I hate it too but according to my visitor logs IE8 is still the leader.

Except it's not. It's significant and can't be ignored but it is not the most used browser:

It isn't the "most used" browser by any stretch of the imagination... Although if you mean "most used in corporate environments" then I can at least agree with that. IE8 gives any web developer fits and I tell any of the graphic designers who I work with to be careful designing if the client demands the use of IE8. With a little forethought, none of the issues with IE8 and CSS3 or HTML5 will be problematic.

Latest product version is unusable. I build intranet sites for the Gov't and use Artisteer for templates. IE support is a must for me as we are still using IE8 as a standard and it will be a loooooong time until that changes, so I have to either continue using 3.1 or find an alternative, I hope Artisteer fixes this issue soon.

I am have been trying to create a theme for a client in 4.0 and I am pretty disapointed with this version. It keeps crashing, sometimes doesn't save templates and it isn't very flexible when it comes to changing colors in the content part when you using a table. I seem not to be able to give different cells, different colors. Also I miss being able to change the lay-out of extra pages I am adding. When you use one images in the lay-out, they are gone when you reopen a project. All and it takes me a lot more time to create a theme then with the older version. So yes please, can we have an update soon?

Hi,

why there ins't a fix for the 4.0 version? Now are more than 2 months!

Why does it takes so much time to release an update?

It's really hard to use 4.0. Well the features are promising, the entire idea is good (for me) but for sure it's not stable and "production-ready". Another "bug":

-responsive design should be fixed. Resizing to "mobile" resolutions ends with no header-object images (for example: your site logo is disappearing)

4.1 is a must...

Wilco, interesting. Does it contain any new features? Or mostly a fixes? Have you e.g. tried IE8 slider compatibility? They said they will try to look into IE8 compatibility issues ...

Well, I would know another path to take adressing the IE8 issue... Just make a bonking big pop-up showing to IE8 visitors only saying:

"Really, come on, we are almost in 2013! Tell your IT-department to finally update this freakin' browser please!"

:D :D :D

Because the next release is going to be "Perfect" and for that, just a little more time is required :)

Yes who says that? ... Could you please tell us who told you that?

If what you're saying is true, than is worth the waiting.

I hope that release 4.0 will be W3C clean code because now isn't clean, lots of errors in xhtml 1.1 and css 3.0 ...

If you leave some layout errors doesn't matter for me, better a clean code in html and css ...

Bye...

Artisteer 4 generates HTML5, you can't expect its code to validate against XHTML 1.1...

This was a tongue-in-cheek comment aimed at Software in general. I have no affiliation with Artisteer other than being an end-user.

My apologies if I sounded - authoritative. This was not intended.

@ Kris,

Not completely true, there is an experimental html5 validator on W3C ...

Im so happy now, because i didn't know how W3C wanted to handle HTML5 code! But thank you Kris for your answer, know we know a little more about validation and now still under experimental.

I hope anyway that the update will be available at the end of this month.

The mac version should be ready also for the end of this month, so I've answered for Jill's question.
