Convert Artisteer 4 templates to version 3

I've noticed that all Artisteer free templates have been converted to version 4.

I'm still using version 3 and very happy with it. Is there a way to open version 4 templates in version 3? Can I manually edit the templates for that to happen?

Any help will be appreciated.

Not that I know of. I have a few artx files from version 3 and artisteer has given me written permission to allow for downloading.

I would like to know that too.

Can we convert templates for version 4 to version 3 manually?

Thanks

Quite why anyone would want to do it I can't fathom. The samples, though quite attractive, are not a great basis of a CMS template as most of the stuff is HTML...

Anyways..if you really must. The artx file is just a renamed zip... Make a copy and rename the .artx extension to .zip.

Extract the zip file and find TemplateProperties.xml

Go in here and change <TemplateProperties version="4.0.0.57793">
to
<TemplateProperties version="3.1.0.46558">

Save the file...

Then go through the other dirs and make the v4 version the same structure as the v3 style.. and zip back up, then change the zip file extension to artx...

By the time you've done all that you could probably have just recreated it in v3...

or try here: http://liveweb.archive.org/http://www.artisteer.com/?p=free_website_templates

Opening post said they are still using version 3. For most people version 3 is good enough. Maybe you can fathom that.

Also most people don't want to design CMS all the time. Artisteer is great for prototyping HTML sites. There's another thing you can try and fathom

:)

Well Kulo. Seeing is you are really clever and can fathom everything, feel free to offer your solution to the OP's question...

I offered some insight into the structure of an artx and where to start with a manual conversion, followed by a link to an archive version of the site (though it seems the files have not been archived by IAWM)...

You on the other hand just managed to be a bit sarcastic with a sprinkle of smugness...whom do you think might be seen as the most helpful, reservations on the usefulness of sample templates aside... ;-)

What I couldn't fathom is why people want the sample files. The whole point of Artisteer is to build your own designs not just fiddle a bit with someone else's then pass it off as your own... Each to their own.

:-(

The real problem is that for all MAC users the version 4 templates are useless as Artisteer V4 is not yet released.

So Artisteer has, in their need to force everytone to use V4, eliminated all MAC users.

The link provided doesn't work sadly...

I mailed Artisteer and they sent me the templates I was looking for in 3.1 format when I explained I'm a Mac user...

Thanks Artisteer!
