Guides // Horizontal & Vertical

As a designer, I use guides in my design programs for clean alignment.

I think Artisteer users would benefit greatly from having an overlay of guides that can be turned on an off.

It would function just like that of Photoshop, where you can set the rulers in pixels or other measurement. You grab a guide and yank it out on top of the area you are working in and you could do this both horizontally and vertically.

Don't forget to add the ability to "snap" so that folks can benefit from being able to make things line up easily (ie, for symmetry, or straight line items, etc).

Thanks for your consideration!

I second that. This is a vital ingredient in my opinion.

Ahh, can't edit my own posts huh? This is such weird forum format.........

Anyway, here's an example why guides or a copy and "paste in place" option would be more than useful. Say you have a slideshow in the header that has 5 images but you want to retain the branding of the site with the same logo in each slide. Try positioning an identical image in the same place 5 times.....argggh!

Paul,

This is a rather pointless area to post feature ideas and suggestions (despite the name of the forum!). Artisteer staff don't interact on these fora very much.

Your idea is excellent; you should click on the "support" link on the left and submit it there as "Feature/Wishlist".

Workaround: you could get a 960.gs grid as your background and make your items semi-transparent. Then align everything, remove the grid and transparency, and set colours, etc to what you want. A bit long winded, but can work.
