Unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't think you can change the width of the Search Box in a header, plus you can't add shadows either, even though there are controls for them in the options pane.
Can someone confirm please?

If you add a new search box it's not resizeable. But if you already had a search box it is resizeable.
At least that's my experience today.

I agree. If you had a box, ie. from a beta 2 template, it seems that the search is nested in a rectangular shape, and by resizing the shape, you can resize the search box.
I have to look again, but there must be a way to change it's size from the style.css file.
They fixed many issues since beta 2, but managed to screw up some others that were working fine.

What I have noticed is there is a handle to rotate (erm...handy) the search box but no resize handles. Looks definitely like a regression in RC.

I wish a search box could be put in the navigation bar too.

You can do it manually (and I did so for testing), but there are major problems with the responsive layouts. In the responsive layouts, the search box cannot be clicked, as it becomes part of the first menu item.
The 2 options left are to turn off the responsive design (not an option for me), or for Artisteer to address this issue.
