Why does export templates with pictures header format only PNG? In the settings put jpg, but the template still translates into PNG format. (for Joomla)

I'm assuming it's because it thinks something has transparency which is not supported in jpg.
Interestingly enough on a test of my background which was a jpg in the images folder, turned to a png when I added a little transparency.

I agree with MikeM - transparency.

Then why is Artisteer 3 export to JPG format?

Only when transparency is not needed.

Well I'll check and then report the results.

Even if the transparency of setting Artisteer 3 the zero, it is still happening in the PNG export. Although the Artisteer 3 successfully exported to JPG.

The same Template exporting (without changing it) different versions of Artisteer and Artisteer 3 images obtained after the export in JPG format, and at Artisteer 4 PNG format.

Same problem here. I'm not using transparency in any part of the header, but 4.0 keeps exporting on a very HEAVY file (780 Kb). In Jpg the same its less than 100 Kb.
That's a big problem if you're visiting the site by a mobile browser, when the size of the files really matters.
Thanks in advance for the support. Can we expect for a improve of this on the next actualization? :)

Meanwhile, the only solution seems to be change it manually on style.css, isn't it?

The solution is to ask them to fix this. Totally unacceptable. I just added a background texture to a header and it was 417 KB! So I have to upload my version over it via ftp afterwards?

Really, I think the previous solution (PGN 8 to the borders and JPG at center) is a better solution if you aren't using round squares, because the final file is smaller. Less is better, especially if the site is meant to be viewed on mobile devices, and it's important to optimize to the max the files. In the previous version, when I exported the theme, I would always take the two files of the header, re-mount in photoshop and export again to obtain a smaller file than the exported ones.
Now, with PNG 24 on the header, it's mandatory if we want to reduce the amount of loading time of the site, and reduce the transfer for each visit.
We continue to hope to improve in this aspect.
