Hi
Make sure that you selected the Joomla 2.5 (not 1.5)
I got similar problem when uploaded 1.5 theme to Joomla 2.5

Contacted support and they replied next day asking for access to the Joomla Admin which I provided. Haven't heard anything back for 3 days now...

Maybe this will help:
Had the same problem as Tom: "When I hit import content on Joomla 2.5.6, it does nothing. Actually, the cancel button does nothing as well"
Import didn´t work with Fireworks and Opera, but then I tried IE and it worked

I tried a 1.5 MB template, tried to import contents in IE9.
Not working again
Yeah, this is weird...I had it working in IE9...now it's not working...again.
Very frustrating.

Good news...
The coders have given me a new 4.0.0.57066 Beta version to test and it does appear it has fixed the content import feature when trying to import content into a Joomla 2.5.6 website using a Chrome browser.
I obviously can't share the Beta, but I imagine they will release it fairly soon as it is an important fix.

Instructions from following thread may be very helpful: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=618315

This may sound odd but which editor in joomla do you have set to default. If TinyMCE try installing a better editor in joomla and setting it to default before importing content, something like JCE.

Has this issue ever been resolved, very frustrating that a feature we are paying for in a product doesn't work, surely there must be a way to get this working, is there any modules or components that need to be installed, I have spent hours searching but so far have come up with nothing.
Cheers
Chris.

@ Chris
4.0 is in RC stage and can have some bugs, I'll suggest you to report it to Artisteer support: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=support

Just stumbled on this thread because I too have the infamous 500 Error when trying to import content from my template. Here is what I did to fix it:
I'm using Artisteer 4.0 with Joomla 2.5.7. When installing Joomla, I got to the database info screen and entered my info. Joomla gives the choice to select between Mysqli and Mysql, with Mysqli as the default choice. (Actually, Joomla tells you that you are PROBABLY using Mysqli, which IMHO they should NOT do.) My DB is Mysql, which usually I would specify in the drop down...but I forgot and left it set to Mysqli. Oops.
After noticing the error in Global Configuration I changed the setting to Mysql, but still no joy importing content. (It appears that failing to set this correctly during the install will affect your permissions, even after changing it manually).
I wiped the entire Joomla install and reinstalled, making sure to select Mysql this time. After all this, the template installed perfectly, and content was imported successfully.
Hope this helps someone.

I'll suggest you to contact Artisteer support with your exported template and saved .artx file: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=support

Yes, this is strange. I changed to IE9, uninstalled template, installed it again and now content importing works. Coders have a lot of work to do before I love this Artisteer version.

Hi,
I solved it!
Just take the Templates folder permissions 775. Et voila!
Now it works!
Have a nice day

I read somewhere in this forum that Artisteer fixed the images wrong path issue in an internal version: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=support

Tanya G at support helped me out. You just need to change your template permission folder to 755 and your file folders 644. Now working like a charm.
and your file folders 644(which file folders)?
Thanks.

I don't know if some one said this already but you need to put the file permissions on writeable.
So open you ftp go to you're joomla folder and put your images folder to 770

Tried everything, changed all permissions, Tried all of the suggestions in this forum, contacted GoDaddy multiple times, Artisteer multiple times, etc etc. Nothing works and needs to be fixed. I understand other sites can import my content but there is some bug between the artisteer program and how it imports and the server at GoDaddy. please someone look into this. Thank you
