I purchased Artisteer to design Joomla Template not to design full website and export it.
Now, I am not able to customize any elements for joomla template as common. For example, I tried to customize buttons. There is no way to customize at least a button. Earlier I could have done that easily with Artisteer 3.1. In new version much waited 4.1. I can edit "Read More" to "More Details" for that joomla has its own options in article settings.
I need to stylize module blocks, Menu Blocks, page navigation, list style headings etc etc. Now look. if one need to customize sub-menu and preview it he/she need to create pages for that.
Please retain good features of past Artisteer Editions. I don't know how others feeling when creating joomla templates. Templates for creating common elements not to set full website

Now I add button/table/headings and etc. from the Edit (second) tab and then select options in other tabs.

This is not so good because I don't see them as before, but it's not bad because I don't need to see them all the time, and always scroll big page to see element at bottom.

And what to do if Artisteer will add more and more controls? Such page will be too large...

So current way is different from previous one, but it's not bad. Especially because I can design a Front/Home page which usally different from others.

THe problem is, if i design a theme for wordpress, Artister gives me all the options, which are not supported in his WordPress themes and i can see that only i i upload the theme and activate it.

The "old" way was better for this.

I agree with this. Having one theme fits all content management systems is simply not true and not helpful. It makes it extremely difficult to accurately design WordPress themes when I know fully well that not everything I do in Artisteer is going to translate the same way as it looks directly into WordPress ....so I have to check and go back to the Artisteer and make changes then do it again. I love the updates but that option was actually (to me) better the previous way because at least then you knew for sure what would or would not translate.

I contacted support this morning and went back and forth about what a bad idea using the HTML view for design was. I finally gave up and just closed the ticket!

Artisteer is a CMS template design tool. Why they want to backtrack and focus on HTML is beyond me. My vote is to bring back the 'Change Template' Option.

I design almost exclusively for Joomla. I DO NOT want to add content to the pages within Artisteer, I want to design a template. Content and navigation are added in Joomla!!

I can only hope Artisteer listens to it's customers!

How hard is it to not export with content? Just untick the options box!

Man, some people will complain about anything...

I think this is an elegant strategic move from Extensoft. Professionel users will not take long to adapt to a few new procedures. Keep on with this strategy. I think we all will benefit from this in the long run.

Artisteer...LISTEN to your customers. I do NOT need a content editor. I need a cms template design tool. Version 3.1 was on the right track...what happened?

Cannot understand whats so difficult in just unchecking the content options box when exporting !

The way version 4 is now has something for everyone, I honestly cannot see what the issue is; you can export to whatever CMS template you want !

In the next Artisteer update there will be the page with all style elements listed on it, like it were in 3.1.
Hope this will solve the problem.

Oh I agree this is what I came here to talk about. This is the only thing I thing I have really found a problem with. I like being able to see the actual layout that I am working on. Also when I go to text to delete the links on the footer it just seems so much more difficult.

I certainly hope they are sincere in this statement. I use this as a template design tool...not as a sitebuilder.

Yes, I LIKE the choosing of the type of template from the get go and not just when I export. I don't want to edit/create content through Artisteer. I like some of the other possibilities/changes, but please change this back. Or give an option from the beginning menu.

Either you do not design for a CMS or misunderstand what the issue is for those of us who do: it is not a matter of exporting content or not, it is the matter of visually designing the template or theme for the chosen CMS. As with all versions prior to 4, we can immediately see what the design changes will look like with the selected CMS within the Artisteer environment. The design view reflects exactly what the theme or template will look like without having to export, install and activate it, as one does now in 4.0

Completely Agree!!!

Succinctly stated...and I completely agree. I design almost exclusively for Joomla and want to see the layout in Artisteer. Thank you for the clear and understandable wording!

Last Friday I posted the following on another thread - looks like Artisteer are going to keep the visual part of 3. Since this posting I have removed version 4 and will not go back until things have changed. Just moving this so that it is included with all other posts.

My Post

I have been looking at 4 for a few days now and in my opinion it is a backwards step.

I use Joomla exclusively and the removal of the view of what things are going to look like on the site was the wrong thing to do. Unless there is a way of changing the view which I haven't found.

I for one would not use the facility to add content to the template so this does not work for me. I use Artisteer for creating a template not for building sites and often then modify the template to add other areas.

I will say that I didn't notice any bugs in 4 but there again I didn't really push it.

So in closing, please, please, please do not take away the ability to review the various aspects of the template.

I am glad to see Artisteer 4.0 Beta 2 for Windows (4.0.0.56851) released today, but I am disappointed to not see the template layout choice availability.

It is necessary to have this feature when Artisteer 4 is released and being able to test it in beta would be a big help to you and us.

Can we get any confirmation to when this feature will be added back in? Beta 3, maybe?

Yep, second that. I'm actually shocked the 'change template' feature hasn't been put back in this beta 2. When is it coming??
Thanks and hoping...

I will not install 4.0 until I read in the forums that the 'Template Layout Choice' is put back. So...NO FREE TESTING from me. Sorry Artisteer, you should listen to your largest customer base...Wordpress and Joomla Template designers. Just take a look at the numbers in the forum posts...Wordpress and Joomla each have over 22,000 posts. Website has 2390. That says it all.

Will not buy a version, It was written by an employee in forum Artisteer implying the next update comes again.

Seeing as Artisteer V4 Beta2 has been taking down, maybe we can see this feature added back in when it is released.

Please Artisteer, make your Joomla fans happy and give us this feature back.
