Just arrived in my inbox! Here is the "news" portion:

"Upcoming Artisteer Update
Currently we continue working hard on enhancing Artisteer and because we are close to finishing a few new important features, we've decided to release the next update as Artisteer 4.0. Besides the previously announced features, we are also planning on supporting HTML5+CSS3, a new header designer with visual editing, and thousands of photos for use in in your website content under the creative-commons license. The upcoming SDK will also make it easier for us to work on finalizing support for Magento and start working on supporting osCommerce and PrestaShop, while allowing other developers to create and offer plug-ins that support 3rd party CMS and e-commerce products. Adding new CMS support to Artisteer will be as easy as dragging a plug-in file onto Artisteer!
We expect the 4.0 Beta version to be available in early July 2012. To cover for short delay with releasing the new update, today we are also extending free upgrade period for our customers by 3 additional months from the previous expiration!"

What is the html5+Css3? Responsive designs (great), or anything else that is going to disappoint many?

The SDK sounds good. I hope it delivers. It will be worth waiting for.

They (Artisteer) told me, a new upcoming feature will be CMS editing IN artisteer!
How will this work?

It was very nice of Artisteer to extend the free updates by 3 months due tot he delay in this new release. It doesn't affect me because I have until Feb 2013 or now May 2013 but for those who were close to the end of their first year, Artisteer did a very nice thing.

They did not do it to be nice. Artisteer does, and never did care for it's customers. They did it so there would not be a big backlash. Simple business preservation move, nothing more.

They want to be nice? They can pay more attention to their customers. They can update us more frequently, no matter how bad things are going in development... at least make us feel that we matter... that said July can't come fast enough.

Glad to see that you've warmed up to the devkit idea, Peter S! Last year you seemed dead-set against it.
