I am unable to edit from the frontend no matter what I try. I have checked everything users/groups/permissions/categories as far as I know -the lot. I have a site set up online which I have used an artisteer template. I have a site set up on my pc and I use the default joomla templates.Using the default joomla templates everything works fine. The site online will not show the pencils to enable editing on the articles. I am come to the conclusion that the problem lies within the artisteer template. Has anyone any ideas?

You have to login as "admin" in the frontend!

Make sure you enabled the front end editing while in Artisteer.

Maybe you don't have an edit icon set? So there is nothing to click on?

In Artisteer 4.1: Content-> Post Header-> Icons-> Enable Edit

I happened to have the same problem. I figured that artisteer now makes a difference between "POSTs" and pages.
If you open any Artisteer template including the Blank template, you will see a list of pages and posts on the left. The Edit icon only shows up on the POSTS, not on the pages.
I don't like the fact that I can edit from the from en for my pages.
I want my clients to be able to edit pages from front end

I hope solution to that too.
Editing via Frontend is possible but layout/GIU is broken.

Btw. There is (not wery good) workaround.
You can use conditional template selector. Addon "Chameleon" is one of them.
Make rule and use Protostar while editing in frontend.
