Hi All,

I need help to integrate Woocommerce (eCommerce plugin) with Artisteer. I am not a programmer and have been trying for a few hours now to get it to work with out any real good results.

If there is a good programmer that is willing to help I would be happy to pay him. I am sure there are many users on this forum that would also like to use Woocommerce, but it unfortunately the plugin just don't work out of the gate with Artisteer.

Here are some links to take a look at on how to fix this:

http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce-docs/category/codex/theming/

Anybody that is interested in taking on this project please let me know.

Thank you in advance,
Tony

Hi All,

I have good news for anybody that is interested in using Woocommerce with Artisteer.

First of all I have looked at lots of eCommerce plugin's for WordPress and Woocommerce is by far the best eCommerce plugin currently available (my opinion). It is only a few months old and already has more addon's than most other eCommerce plugin's out there. It simply just works great with many third party programmers jumping on board. It is the eCommerce plugin of the future.

The issue is that it does not work with Artisteer out of the gate and I have been trying to find a programmer to help me with no avail. I had $300 set aside to pay a hourly rate to get this sorted out but I had only 1 programmer that was willing to take on the project but the problem was that he had no experienced with Artisteer. I also had to think about future updates on WordPress, Artisteer, and Woocommerce all updates on any of these could override the CSS and or any custom code, which was a big concern for me.

So thought about Bud from Templateer, he is a solid coder with more experience about Artisteer than anybody that I know. So I asked Bud if he could help me out. Well, he had it all figured out in a few hours with very amassing results, I couldn't believe it. All I had to do was to add one PHP file to my theme and wala! everything just worked and looked great.

Bud said that the next version of Templateer will make Artisteer compatible with Woocommerce. So long story short if you want to use Woocommerce the easiest would be to just get Templateer.

This is a big bonus for me because not only did Bud do the work for free but I also found out that Templateer has a fix for WP-eCommerce as well and a few default templates for Buddy Press, not to mention all the extra widget areas, sitemap, search field and images in the top navigation etc, the list goes on and on.

Any body that was thinking about getting Templateer I would say don't wait, because it is a great addon for Artisteer with lots more features you won't know how you lived without it.

Disclaimer, there are no affiliate links in this post, I am just sharing my experience using Templateer and working with Bud.

I have to agree Templateer is very a good add on for Worpress. I have only used it on one site so far > http://www.edenbridgewindowsystems.co.uk

I tired to advise the client clouds were not a good idea, but hey ho the customer is always right! I only used a little of templateer, i.e. header widget and clickable logo etc... but found it very useful.

Anyway back on topic my next project is WP e-commerce site and it will be my first. I am now going to have a look at Woocommerce. Did Bud say when the new version will be out with the fixes?

Many Thanks
Mark

Hi Markdn,

Bud wanted to release the new version a month ago but is still doing some minor tweaks. He also needs to finish the last few support videos and documentation to explain some of the new and more advanced features.

Whats new in the next version?
1 - Different background on a per page/post feature. You would be able to upload a custom background and preview it from the page your on, this is a big one for me.

2 - Different header on a per page/post feature same as the background, with a up-loader and preview feature while your on the page, this will make the website more user friendly limited only by your imagination...

3 - The standard Artisteer and the Advanced Templateer options panels has been combined into one restyled options panel.

4 - The theme options panel layout has been completely redesigned to make it simpler to understand.

5 - New page template using jQuery Quicksand animation effect http://razorjack.net/quicksand/ to sort posts

6 - There are more smaller changes all features worth waiting for

Hi Tony,

I recently bought Templateer and I'm still getting used to it. A few of my older sites did not have this addon though. Now I'd like to add WooCommerce to my sites too. Can you share with us what php codes need to be added to get Artisteer themes to be compatible with Woocommerce?

So can you tell me how to get Templateer to work with wp-commerce on a wordpress site?

I can use my old - plain artisteer theme and wp-commerce works just fine but the newly created one with templateer it does not.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...

Thank you for your help! The piece of code to the theme file - /includes/tt_meta.php worked like a charm:
[global $custom_sidebar,$custom_back;]

Thank you!

I have to say that I've tried using WooCommerce and actually have a book on their program and layout I printed up and compiled because while it installs and sets up easily there are huge problems with its graphics and layout. I eventually gave up on WooCommerce after being told by their support team that they wouldn't help me unless I paid. I went to Ecwid and love them. They respond right away to questions on their forum, have a free version that works for most situations, and are hosted on Amazon's servers so you don't have download waits. I don't get any affiliate kick-back from them and have used them so far on two client sites and my own business site and so far just use Ecwid.com. No problems yet and no drama like I had with WooCommerce.

You can use ecwid without having to change a theme in any way at all, and it's easier and faster to set up than Woo. Unless Ecwid goes out of business, I will never waste my time with Woo again. You have to buy special themes to accommodate it, they only help you with their image sizing issues unless you pay, and why spend hours or days learning it when there's something faster and easier?
