Hello,

My new theme is ready to be exported via FTP to the website on the server. On Artisteer 3, there are so many options, I get a bit lost ! I want to export the new theme which is actually a template I modified. So I want the theme + text to be exported. Which option should I use ?

Thanks very much,

Geezee

Hi,

If you need to export the new theme you created in Artisteer, you simply go to WordPress Theme -> Export (chosse File or Zip; file is for direct upload to ftp, zip is for uploading through wp-admin) , and save you theme on your PC, though I don't think that the text you have entered in Artisteer will stay after installing the theme. (I m talking about headline, slogan, etc). Those are added in wp-admin. Though I think that Artisteer 3.1 Beta2, allows the text to be edited directly in Artisteer, the footer text - for sure.

Thank you very much Gina for taking the time to answer.
I just bought Artisteer 3 but the export options are no more the same. I have the french version). If I go in "File" then "Export" this is what I have :

- Export site web HTML
- Publish (CTRL + E)
- Publish theme
. Publish content
- Create HTML website
- Otions CSS
- Export options

The option "Wordpress theme - export" is nowhere to be found !
I tried the only option available "export website HTML" but it does not work.
So, again, thanks for telling me where I can export my WP theme !

Regards,

Geezee

I m using Artisteer 3 as well, and no matter version it is (3.0, 3.1, 3.1 beta2), the combination Ctrl + E exports the created theme. If you have chosen WordPress template to be created in the beginning, Ctrl+E would export WP theme.

What you have in "Export" (as you described) happens when you have chosen "Website or blog" as a template in the beginning, not WordPress.

When I use Ctrl + E a window open with : Title and domain @artisteer.net. I cannot export the theme ! But this seems to happen only whith templates from the "Samples" page.

To check this theory, I tried to open a new project in Artisteer (for WP), saved it and then, I got the option to export the theme ! But when I use the modified template (the .aftx of the template "Communico" the option to export the theme is no more available !

So, how to use this template "Communico", edit it in Artisteer and then have the „export theme“ option available ? That's the issue...

If you need a WP theme, go to File -> Change template -> WordPress.

Now you template is for WP and it can be exported as such.

Yes, but it has little to do with the template I want to use !

Actually, I bought Artisteer 3.0 because I saw the templates "Communico" on the page "Samples" and it says it can be edited with Artisteer and be exported as a theme on WordPress ! If I modify the template with : -> Change template -> WordPress, it looses all what I'm interested in.

Well, the layout is changed because some detailed are added/designed in wp-admin itself, not in Artisteer. I see that the columns in the post area are lost. But those are edited in wp-admin (lower can be done using footer widgets, etc.), using plugins, etc.

Export the file in WP mode, and then start working on it in WP, it needs just few adjustments.

OK, I will do as you say. A bit disappointed though that the template cannot be used and edited as such, directly from Artisteer :-(

Since I'm not familiar with WordPress, what would be the change (codes ?) needed to make the theme have the same appearance as the template ?

Many thanks !

I have to add the text that is found in "Samples" :

"This premium, fully customizable template
is available for Joomla, WordPress, Blogger,
Drupal and DotNetNuke. It is also available
as an Artisteer project or an HTML website
template.

If it has been designed in WorPress, it should be mentionned, otherwise, I buy a product that I cannot use unless I learn all the triks to edit it in WP.
Am I right ?

Hi everybody!
I have also the same problem and, as Geezee, I've bought the Artisteer 3.1 just for the possibility of using the samples. In fact they really sell the software using the arguments of the free website samples.
I was excited to see how I can make my template using the samples, but it was really disapointed when I realized that all my work was in vain... :(
What's the solution?
thanks!

I use a wp plugin called HTML Import 2

All the pages created were html pages imported from Artitsteer's "Nutrition Consultant" sample using HTML Import 2 plugin (http://mistergoodweb.com/artisteer/).

You can also cut and paste the info from the sample Artisteer project into Word Press. See threads below

Sorry guys, but I'm really frustrated with all this Artisteer...

I've tried to do all the things the posts suggested and it's seem impossible to get the site as the blog shonw (http://mistergoodweb.com/artisteer/)
The colunms are not respected, the images are not imported

I've installed the plugins "HTML import 2" and the "Easy Disable Visual Editor" which didn't make any difference in the messy layout..

I'm totally lost in how to succeed with Artisteer templates..

The think that those having trouble with HTML templates that they ant to use with Wordpress is that Wordpress manages the content and Artisteer manages the layout and visuals. That's the whole point of Wordpress, separating the content from the graphics and enabling content to be added and modified by end users as if they were using a wordpocessor and without requiring any knowledge of web programming or infrastructure.

Basically, you cannot add content to a Wordpress template in Artisteer other than the site desc and tagline and a few other metadata items and links. You add all the content in Wordpress. The huge advantage of this is you can change the theme on the fly without having to migrate content into new HTML pages. Once you get the hang of this partitioning of the content and the visuals you'll realise how quickly you can produce a theme and reskin a website.

The crux: design the template how you'd like it to look in Artisteer, install it in wordpress and add your content there. If you want to use Artisteer to enter the content then stick to HTML format "theme" and forget about Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal or any other LAMP based cms.

I got the cup cake artisteer template and adapted to my website.
I've already tried to import using the "html import 2" but when in WP, the grid of the content is not respected, the images come as broken links (and when I add it the me media galerry wp it comes in different format).
I'm working with the wordpress template mode in artisteer but it's so limited and it's impossible to do a half of the design possibilities as the Artisteer samples offer. And I'm just talking about layout, not texts.

Milena,

I found a sample called cakehouse. I uploaded that with no problem (http://mistergoodweb.com/artisteer). I'm not too sure if that's the sample your were talking about

To import the pages in correctly in html import 2, make sure in the content tab that you have the proper tag/attribute/value items filled in. It should be div/class/art-postcontent (see image below). Also for images make sure import link images are selected also.

Once you have html import 2 setup it is a pretty nice plugin. It only takes about 10 minutes to import everything from a sample in artisteer to wordpress.

Hi gcm,
I've tried it also and it doesn`t work. I've made 4 different attempts to find how get the html template and nothing worked. In the web there're lots of questions about how to import html template to wordpress and the most people say that's impossible, other suggest that's needed html, css, php knownledges..
I'm a begginer and due to this I've bought the Artisteer.
Bellow all my attempts:

ATTEMPT (1)
1) download sample in Artisteer website and personalize it with the software
2) Export it, publish FTP. Saved in folder "html-files-to-import"
3) In WP: Appearance > upload > file "html-files-to-import"
4) Error screem "The package could not be instaled. The style.css stylesheet doesn't contain a valid theme header. Theme install failed"

ATTEMPT (2)
1) using the same html file created by the exportation from Artisteer (same file I've used first attempt)
2) Got the HTML Import 2 and changed the settings according you've suggested above. And in the sheet "File" I've deleted the itens included in the field "Directories to exclude"
3) I've changed the name of the file to "html-files-to-import" in a folder of the EasyPHP that I'm using to manage wordpress off line.
4) In HTML import, I've pressed "Import files", chosen "Directory", and error screen again. "Invalid argument supplied for.."

*Once I did this same proceddure with another template I've made in artisteer with several pages and it got all the pages with its contents, but not the layout. Only text.

ATTEMPT (3)
1) I've done the same as attempt 2, but I've chosen "Single File"
2) Appeared a screen: "Importing HTML file." "Imported the file as ." "all done. have fun"
3) After nothing has changed in the theme chosen and in the Pages appeared a "(no title) page". Blanked and with the previous wp theme

ATTEMPT (4)
1) For the last one I've got the sample in artistee's site "Targetter" and downloaded it in the wordpress version "Free ready to use templates".
2) I've imported it using in WP: Appearance > Theme > Install theme > upload. It was "correctly imported and activated.
3) but for my surprise all the layout structure wasn't there. Only the background was applied to the pages I'd previously made. Including the Home didn't appeared in the "Pages" list, it was in the "Post" and also without the home layout presented in the sample.

Can anybody help me? It's becoming a dream be able to use artisteer to make templates...

Hello Milena
I am very new to WP i normally do all my work on Dreamweaver or Artisteer HTML. A few weeks ago a customer wanted me to move his site from one server to an other and redesign it. It was in WP.
I designed the site in Artisteer, since that is so much faster :-). When I exported it I did the following. Without getting HGMP Import and other stuff:
1: In the 'Ideas' tab i clicked on Word Press Theme
2: I named the 'Folder Name' and saved it on my Desktop (this time I did not click 'Zip archive or include ARTX project'
3: Then I closed Artisteer
4: I opened FileZilla and signed into the accounts FTP
5: I then opened the folder 'wp-content'
6: opened themes and uploaded the entire folder that was saved on my desktop into the themes folder
7: closed it all up and went into WP.org. I activated the theme that was now to be found in the themes and had everything I had done in Artisteer right there.
8: I do always go and add stuff and maybe tweak the HTML a bit to have it fit my needs exactly but over all it did exactly what it promised on Artisteer.

hope this helps.

syli: when you say "I designed the site in Artisteer, since that is so much faster ," does that include text, and everything you designed and added to your template?? I use Dreamweaver and am new to WP sites. I know exactly what you mean about using FTP to transfer the files. If you are telling me I can create a full blown WP template and add whatever I want, save it to a folder, FTP it, open it up, and shazamm, it's all there, that would be a lifesaver. Is that what you are saying????

thanks

Hello! I created a website with 17 pages using Artisteer 3.1, which I just bought. Since I am a novice in Artisteer, I decided to do just HTML to be simpler.
I'm frustrated! I can not export to my host. The connection is completed and confirmed (OK), I click export as HTML. Instead of a good webiste, the message that appears is "Index of /
                                                                    . fixed-file "

Please can someone help me? Thanks in advance for any help. :*)
Muito obrigada/ Thank you!!!

Make sure you are exporting to correct directory, you can also try a third party FTP like Fireftp or Fliezilla.

Dear, Garry, thanks for your help and courtesy. I will try clariniense all proceedings in my first experience with Artisteer, to see if you or someone help me. :
1) I am working with the 3.1.10.55575 version of Artisteer.
2) I exported to HTML directory of my host. Proof of this is that the host sent me a notification "ok" for shipping and another stating something was wrong.
3) Expression Index / of, for all I know, means that the "index" page was not created.
4) Since that did not work, I searched for tutorials and even tried to find specific information in User Manual of Artisteer. (I tried tips or tutorials in languages that I understand: English, French, Italian, Spanish and, of course, Portuguese – my native language).
a) The Manual only teaches send by the program itself, of course.
b) The tutorials are for Blogger or WordPress. Unfortunately, they do not talk about the old and good website.
5) I read carefully the information posted by "Syli" for "Milena", this Forum (above) . He explains about the trick of changing the extension ".artx" to ".zip"; compress and decompress files in Win-rar, the save the project in another folder.
6) I tried doing this, but the files appear uncharacterized, i.e. the pages are called "new-page2", "newpage-new-page4." I do not understand why the pages "lose" short names I gave them. (All photos were uploaded but not pages.)
7) As I cannot identify the pages, I cannot rename them, to send via FTP (Filezilla.) Notice that I can see the site complete and perfect when I preview it in browsers by the Artisteer. (IE, Chrome, Mozilla, Safari and Opera)
8) When I discovered Artisteer, I was delighted, amazed. The program is friendly, challenging and exciting for creative people. A "Dream of a Summer Night" for someone like me, who worked with Kompozer and BlueGriffon… (Dreamweaver is ridiculously expensive!) Although not cheap, Artisteer has a possible price.
9) However, I am feeling "illiterate" ... (LOL) I hope that with this long explanation, although written in poor English, someone can understand what is happening.
Thank you for your patience with this my “novel”.
