Drupal 7 - Footer moves to left sidebar when page has enough content |

I discovered today as I was adding content to our new site that the page footer moves into the left sidebar if enough content is added to the page. I am wondering if there is a problem with the CSS position element for the footer or the sidebar or perhaps with the page.tpl.php file.
