A common piece of advice is to make your 404 page "friendly" so you don't lose readers, and there are lots of examples on the internet you can upload.

Unfortunately you can't customize your 404 page on an Artisteer theme, because the text is created by calling a function. Which seems ridiculously complex to create three little words!!

Why can't we have a simple 404 page consistent with 90% of other themes, so the site owner can customize it like everyone else?

Even the Twenty Ten theme has more than just "404 not found" these days.

;-)
I would love to be able to create the 404 page as part of the template export, with version 4 so much other stuff has been added, lets add this for a future release.

The other great feature to add would be Google Anyalitics as part of any template export.

OK, I'm new around here, but why can't you create a 404 page in Artisteer 4, then in the Page Properties (in Artisteer) remove it from both menus, then in your CMS specify this page as your 404 page, hiding sidebars if desired?

I'll see if I can cook one up.

Experimented with this, seems that Wordpress doesn't allow selecting a default 404 page, we have to edit 404.php.

So, yes, the option to design this 404.php page in Artisteeer is a great idea!
