The problem is memory leaks in the programming. This software has been plagued with them since its conception....

Yes, I also have noticed memory leaks...
and the process sometimes still running in TaskManager after I closed it...
That ussually seams to happen if I closed it after it running for longer than a day.

Ouch. And I was having so much fun experimenting with the 3.0 release candidate... after about 45 min of exploring and getting more and more impressed. Bam! I hit this "Insufficient Memory" error.
Before I started the program I had 2.5GB memory free.
Any thoughts on what activities cause the biggest leaks?
Or, better yet, any word on effort being done to fix these leaks?
*** The comment from Anthony above doesn't make me feel optimistic about improvements coming any time soon... Perhaps I should save my $!

Contacting Artisteer support may be very helpful in fixing the issue.

This happens to me a lot too. However, when you reload Artisteer 3, a pop-up will ask if you want to restore the last project. The only advice I can give is to save as often as possible.

Howdy,
I have never, EVER, had this happen, on PC or Mac since day 1 (for each O/S). It's a resource-hungry app; try having it as the only app running if you have limited RAM available.
Cheers!

I too just got the memory error. I've been using 3.0 since release, but I hadn't done a full template yet, mainly just mess around. I think it has something to do with the loading of custom images into the design. Especially if those images, such as the background, or glare are large in size.
This should definitely be something that gets looked at by the developers. I lost most of my work due to the crash. Something that could be a work around would be to add auto-saving features like MS Office. That way, even if you haven't saved your newest project, the temporary file that was created still has most of your changes saved.

This issue severely needs to be fixed. I am having this problem on a daily basis ever since I bought Artisteer 3.0 (standard edition). The staff was anything but helpful about the issue and completely blew me off and essentially shrugged their shoulders and told me 'sorry'. They need to stop adding new features and fix this issue, because this is a severe issue and it sounds like a lot of people are having this problem. And no, I don't have very little RAM either - I have 12 GB of RAM on a 64 BIT machine with a fast processor. Even when it's my only program running Artisteer STILL crashes. This needs to be fixed!!

Hello Jacques,
you have more than enough RAM. I suppose you should contact Artisteer support about this.

I can't understand why you guys are having all these probs.
I'm running 3.1.0.42580 on XP Pro SP3 with 4Gb of RAM (only 3.25 of the RAM usable in XP Pro) and Intel 3GHz Dual Core CPU.
I usually have several apps. running at the same time say; CuteFTP, Photoshop, Navicat, Firefox, Open Office etc. etc.
Artisteer is running very fast, no problem with generating themes, saving or anything at all - always has done.
Sometimes perhaps, less really is more?!

I am having this problem for the first time today and I've been using Artisteer for two years.
The only thing I did differently is yesterday I uninstalled the beta and planned to revert back to 3.0. But then none of my projects would open so I uninstalled 3.0 and installed the beta again. And I've been having this problem ever since.

I had this problem but fixed it by shrinking image sizes before loading to Artisteer and, very important, change image names to simple short names without excessive spaces/characters. No problem since.

I actually had this happen today for the first time in 3 years of using Artisteer. I'm not short on memory either with 16GB at my disposal nor was I using the RC.
@ Malan - I did, what could be considered, a large PNG (378KB) in the header but that was it. So I think there's more to this.
Perhaps it has something to do with the undo history? Don't know. Either way it reaffirmed my need to save on a regular basis.

@Peter S - Very good idea about the Undo history.
