I just installed V3.0 beta 2 after it auto de-installed v3.0 beta 1

As soon as the app started, activation process started and I got trown a error message. The app quited after that. Sended report to support.

Every time I startup the app its starts the activation process and I get the same error message. When I click cancel and do not send a report, the app quits as well.

Gear: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (running with latest MS updates)

So be warned if you install the beta 2 release.

I had no problems whatsoever installing the update after having the previous 3.0 beta version installed.

Good for you Jimbo. Same for me as for Jos though.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Activation doesn't work after installation and removal of previous version.

This happened before with the first beta. That time I raised a ticket, and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, support making me jump through hoops, saying - 'make sure your computer is connected to the internet' - obviously it's connected how else would I raise a ticket?

Someone sensible finally issued me a working activation key and all worked beautifully.

I've just raised a support ticket for this instance and hope they're not going to make me jump through hoops again (supply screenshots). I'll just refer them to the previous case, coz it's all there, and exactly the same.

Can't get it to load. Throws error, "Could not find file 'SiteTemplate.xml'.

Ugh.

Trick: Start with an existing .ARTX file and the program will run. 8-)

Bill_P me too, Just reported it. It's good to be part of an exclusive club innit?

If this weren't grievous enough, Google Chrome's flash plugin is playing up so I can't access features, make attachments (screenshots) so I've had to revert to dreaded IE9 just to communicate. Doh. It's a conspiracy I tell you.

Ah well.. let's see what transpires

mwoffenden you're right, initially anyway. Clicked on an existing .artx file and Artisteer opened nicely, managed then to open a few others from within Artisteer. Excellent I thought.

I closed Artisteer, restarted it and got the "Could not find file 'SiteTemplate.xml' " dialog box again. But at least progress has been made, nearly there.

From what I can see (with the exception of the startup bug) the designs are nicer and Suggest Design creates fewer ridiculous designs. Program execution overall is considerably faster. Many changes in the ribbon bar. Also new online templates. Lots of fun stuff to play with! :-P

It works! Thanks for suggesting a way around the startup bug that some of us in an exclusive club are experiencing.

mwoffenden I think yet again you're right, it looks nicer, lots of nice new things to play with, just a bit of a bummer having to initiate from an .artx file. I didn't realise I had so many!

I hope they can fix this. Meantime I'll raise a glass and celebrate our membership of this exclusive club. We must've been chosen specially. Hic.

It may already be St. Patrick's Day where you are. If so, and if you're Irish or part Irish, it must be the Luck O' The Irish.:-)

Things looking up, Obviously foxed support... I completely uninstalled Artisteer 3, agressively using Revo Uninstaller. Reinstalled. Got it all working had to manually input the licence activation key and all seemed to work fine.

Closed the program completely after opening a few .artx files, and creating a new test one and immediately it tried to activate automatically and failed. I re-entered the activation key and all seems to be working as it should.

Program starts fine, doesn't try to activate, I can start it from desktop icon, taskbar icon and Programs. I have been able to open several .artx files, and create a new one, and it seems to be stable. Hold on let me try it again... yup all good so far. Ooh just spotted some nice things to play with re posts and pages content...

Maybe I had a browser running or some other program while installing the first time (how blasé) and that interfered somehow. A complete uninstall and reinstall seems to work. Doh. Blast am I now no longer on of the elite? I'll hang on a bit before I tell support, you know, just in case it is a figment of my imagination.

Hi,

I had the same issue...3.0 crash after installing..screenshot just like shown above.
Bill_P

simple fix...do a clean uninstall - I use Revo Uninstaller...delete all trace files and then reinstalled without any issues.

I was using the previous Artisteer 3 beta .

Window 7 Ultimate x64

Ran the installer for the new beta, followed instructions to uninstall the previous version. Ran the program:

Throws error, "Could not find file 'SiteTemplate.xml'

Opened an .artx project. Crashed the program.

Uninstalled Artisteer 3 aggressively using REVO uninstaller.

Re-installed the new Beta. Allowed it to auto-activate online. I am now able to run the program without crashing. When I attempt to save however I always get the error:

'Unable to save file. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

Same error whether I choose 'Save As' or 'Save'

I am not able to send error reports, due to to a MAPI error (despite having Google apps selected and configured as the default mail program in Windows)

Revo Uninstaller solved my problem, too. After the initial installation resulted in the dreaded "Could not find file 'SiteTemplate.xml'" message I uninstalled the program (using Windows uninstaller), restarted Windows and reinstalled Beta 2 with the same lack of success. After reading other posts in this thread, I used Revo Uninstaller and then reinstalled Beta 2. I started the program and, after activation, it ran with no error message.

I run again Revo Uninstaller, and working now. But I don't understand: when change language, then activation script run again... :*)

I used agressive uninstall in Revo, and after run standard uninstall, then select all kex, click to Delete, and in file list window too. Reinstall beta 2, and working now.

Thanks guys for tips!

I have windows 7 64 bit. Only issue I had was it tryed to activate evertime I launced the program. Went to the file menu and select Activate. Issue resolved. Working great! It appears to run MUCH faster than bata 1.

I just find out, how fix Could not find file 'SiteTemplate.xml' error.
1. Uninstall Artisteer 3
2. Remove (in w7) Artisteer 3 folder in C:\Users\<usrename>\AppData\Roaming\Artisteer
3. Install Artisteer 3 beta2.

That how I fix it.

For what it's worth, the install of v3 beta 2.0 went perfectly for me. I am a brand new Artisteer user and it looks great compared to V2.6 even (and that was impressive!!)

Windows 7 64bit, not previously using beta 1.0

Thanks for the great program guys.

Arzy's fix worked for me. I also upgraded and ran into the "could not fine sitetemplate.xm." issue. Thanks.

Artisteer support emailed me this.

1. Uninstall Artisteer 3
2. Remove Artisteer 3 folder in C:\Users\<usrename>\AppData\Roaming\Artisteer3. Install Artisteer 3 beta2.

I did that and all is ok now.

This is correct and solves the problem

Thumbs up for Revo Uninstaller!!

Finally that fixed my issues with version 3 defaulting to a custom theme (on any save or theme selection) I had made when I first started beta testing it.

Revo found some default settings in the vista registry and I deleted those.

Man that was frustrating... I should have thought about that sooner, I already had Revo installed from awhile ago for another software issue.
