I've been using a legit version of Artisteer for the past couple of month. Pretty much happy with it until today.
The strory...
Few days ago I decided to do some minor update of my template. Save and export it as usual. Didn't expect anything fishy is going to happen.
Today, when I opened the file again, all my changes + template is gone. It revert back to the default template!.
I already submitted a ticket to artisteer, and will see what they answer would be.
Again, I'm using a legit version. Bought it last November and the activation process was done properly.

I fail to see what whining about it in the forums would achieve, before the Support folks respond, then.

Does your project backup also revert to the default?

Yeah I know. It's a knee jerk reaction when you see all your effort going down the drain.

That's the problem. Lesson learned.

We all learn the hard way, unfortunately.
Have Support answered?

Same thing going on with me too. I have tried to open the .artx file and it's just the default template. Same as you, kind of frustrating working on a template and only being able to export it and not being able to save it, therefore unable to go back in and edit it again.

This may be a stupid question but someone has to ask... Are you saving each template with a unique name? If not then do. Also try saying each project in two different folders. Then you should have a backup of each project.

Support has replied. Required me to turn on the log and submit to them. Weird thing is, I can't reproduce the error.
No detail explanation received yet.
From now on, will take extra precautions. Never know when it will happen again.

I'm having the same problem and it keeps happening.
The weird thing is that when I try to open a saved template the icon is of the template I desgned it exactely right, but it opens as default, except for the text I put it the header, that's still there.

What version of Artisteer? Wish people would at least put the basic details.

@swan This is also happening to me.

I've been reading about this problem with 3.0, but the version I'm using is:
2.5.0.31067

No Problems

I've had no problems whatsoever since I bought the paid version.

FYI: such problem is indeed possible only with Beta versions and is currently being analyzed. It does not happen with any officially released product versions (except for cracks).

What always amazes me about these post's is the righteous indignation.
It's amazing how this inanimate product is able to single out people like Waldo for harassment.

@Waldo: @Waldo: I can comfirm that what Waldo said is right. I have tested version 2.6 and 3.0. On v3.0 save and reload of cms templates are not thesame at open. but v2.6 work perfectly without any problem.

Been using Artisteer 3 for Joomla for a month or two - paid version obviously - no crack. I like the structure it uses versus the 2.6... Anyway, I've never had any issues described here, but as a practice, every time I make a template change I save it as a new version:
eg: wstemplate1,2,3,4,5 etc. It's a good practice to get into especially when you mess with core files after exportation.

Agreed. This is the only way to go. Anyone who does otherwise is a fool. BTW I've never had this problem with 3.0. Ever. So sorry for you.

I'm curious. I'm using a cracked version and it won't save. I am willing to buy the full version if it will save (sorry but the trial wasn't a good enough test for me). Anyone have any experience with the mac version?
And where do you get version 3? I only see 2.6 on the download page.
I'm assuming the .artx file is supposed to save the exact template? Every single modification?

My thought exactly!

Perhaps they try the cracked versions 'cos theres so much controversy over the actual product!
I am a fully licenced user of 2.6 and suffer the same problems of it not saving/opening the project files properly - personally I therefore dont benefit from having bought the product!!!
To back this point, the news on the 10th Feb was that "We hope to have a new 3.0 update within a week" - it's now over a week and no more news... I rest my case

I use the Mac version (2.6). It's works perfectly as far as I can see. There is no version 3 for Mac yet. It'll be released (soon) after the Ver. 3.0 for PC.

Your just a plain and simple liar. Either that or just too stupid to use this product. I can confirm I have testd every single version of Artisteer there is. Even the cracked ones for fun. All the legal registered live online via the Artisteer website version work perfectly and save perfectly.
All the cracked or keygen versions only appear to work. They will export without the watermark and pretend to save. But then when you go back and reopen your file all the work is gone. So if you insist on using the keygen. Then the only way to save your work so you can make changes is to never shut off your computer or close Artisteer ever again.
Here's an idea. Just put your computer into hybernate. Pull out the hardrive and burn an image of it. Then if you ever turn off your computer you can just restore the image and come out of hybernation.
Sure it's a lot more work. And all your saved files will now be 30GB images and tkae about an hour to load each time. But hey you didn't have to spend the measly little amount of money it takes to buy the real version did you.
But it's not like your a good enough web guy to actually make any money are you?

I've spent a little time helping some usesr having problems with artisteer and found out that they were using cracked copies. If you download anything off a torrent site you better be prepared for problems with the software or your computer.
