In my vertical menu all looks well until I hover over the menu item. The item changes color and functions properly, but an underline appears under the link when I hover over the item. How do I remove this? I would like to not see any underlined links in the vertical menu items in all states at all times. Thanks

You need to set each state (hovered, active etc) individually:
