You can prevent (hide) Artisteer by going in the export options and removing the link, and also changing the "art-" from the CSS prefix field, so Artisteer won't have any traces even in the source code.
However, someone who knows Artisteer very well, can tell that it is an Artisteer template from seeing all the divs, and the heavy coding style that only Artisteer delivers. But, that's only someone who knows and understands Artisteer templates. To a regular user, it will be almost impossible to tell.

Note, however, that you CANNOT sell templates/sites that use one of the built in FOREGROUND photos in the header.
There's another post or two around that discuss it more fully.
I think there's also something about that in the FAQ as well.

We have talked about this a million times before...
You cannot distribute the templates with the foreground photos, BUT you CAN use them for your own web sites, and for the web sites of your clients.

I don't want to sell them as templatemaster and so on, i just want to make sites for my client and sell the site to my client, is that legal?:)

Absolutely !!! You can even use the foreground photos for these purposes.
These is from this web sites FAQ pages.
"Can I resell or redistribute exported Wordpress™, Joomla!™, Drupal™ and Web Templates?
Yes, as long as you do not include Artisteer photo objects within your header (Header -> Foreground Photo), as those photos are licensed from a 3rd party only for your own use or in your consulting work. You may re-distribute any other designs you create, including those with Artisteer header background photos (Header -> Background), glares, page backgrounds and other provided graphics, and your own photo objects. NOTE: The above restriction applies only to templates created for sale. There are not restrictions on creating individual web designs and templates for yourself and your clients. "

In the latest beta version this is built into the export process....you can change the CSS prefixes.

On the above, is it correct to assume that the restrictions do not apply to theme created for demo or for free?

Yes you can and lots do it (me included), though most just think oh easy money, i'll just buy artisteer then bang out numerous awful templates in an attempt to flog them in the hope to make a quick buck, but i can't see anyone buying most of the ones i've seen on here unless they are seriously desperate!
