These are the first websites I have ever created. On my static webpages (WordPress) I would like to create banner headings. (In fact, I'd rather that the article header not have a banner, but that the heading have one.) Can someone tell me how I can do that? Thanks!

I'm a Joomla person myself. In Joomla the banners are created automatically. You just can't see them unless you view the template in the template preview in Joomla. You may want to see if WordPress has a view feature for the template that shows you what space is where even if you are not using them.

Simply create additional page templates, add new div in theme and add you custom banner in that div.

Artisteer doesn't support additional/custom page templates, you need to crreate them manually following threads may be helpful:
