What's the final word on having non-static vertical menu bar menus that use the theme's appearance. I don't like Nice Menus because they have their own appearance. I do like the DHTML look and feel but I know that doesn't work. Seems as though the only option is to have a completely expanded menu.

If you keep a menu item expanded, it will of course always display all child items. If you're looking to expand it only when users are on those pages, make sure you have a page assigned to the menu item that's not expanded and it will expand automatically when a user visits that page.
If this isn't what you mean, are you referring to slider menus?

Not quite. Here's a structure
Products
Widget 1
Widget 2
Widget 3
Accessories
Dohickey 1
Dohickey 2
When you first enter the site, Products and Accessories should be collapsed. Click on Products and the three widget menu items are displayed but nothing else happens to the rest of the page.

Nevermind. My mistake. The parent menu item must have a node associated with it in order for the child menu items to be displayed.
I'd still like the DHTML module to work.

Hit the nail right on the head.
Now that you got that working, experiment a bit with DHTML menu, chances are it should work. If not, get back with us so we can troubleshoot.

I think there's a bug in the Left Vertical Menu region code because if I move the block from Left Menu to Left Sidebar, DHTML works. The downside is I lose all the Vertical Menu styling.
