Confirm following:

1- You are trying to upload a .artx file on your Joomla installation, if it is you should click export button on top the of Artisteer, export it as Joomla template and upload it.

2- You are exporting a HTML template or Wordpress theme from Artisteer and are trying to upload it on your Joomla installation, if it is the case click ideas tab in Artisteer, on your right side there is a sub tab named exports showing logos of all the supported CMSs(Joomla, Wordpress, Blogger, Drupal) Click that logos, select Joomla, click Export on top of your Artisteer, export as zipped folder, upload/install it to your Joomla installation and you'll be good to go.

3- Try exporting the template as zipped instead of zipping it manually.

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to upload a zipped artisteer template into a joomla page. I can't find anything about "Extension Manager" on my site which the Artisteer docs say to use. All I have is lots of links taking me to info about Joomla — nothing about actually making Joomla work with the Artisteer template. I'm beginning to think this is a joomla problem, not an Artisteer or webhost site problem. Any ideas?

I found it! You have to login to "Your Site URL/administrator." Then it works. At least I got to the Extension Manager that I was looking for.

Now I have a new problem. How do you tell what needs to be done in Artisteer and what needs to be done in Joomla logged in as administrator?

I'd like a picture and title in the banner. I had a picture in Artisteer but it didn't transfer into Joomla. Also I'd like drop down menus across the menu bar. Do you create them in Joomla or Artisteer? So far, Artisteer seems to be giving me the right width of the banner, the right color scheme and font sizes and hovering qualities. I'm just overwriting the Joomla stuff. Hope that's the right way to do it...

Artisteer create template for Content management systems(Joomla, Wordpress etc.) and in a CMS you need to add content(maybe images) from your CMS admin , the content you see while designing your template is just dummy and is for illustration purpose only.

I get the same error!! It says "Installation file not found:..../joomla/media/install_4ca4c26c0e858/Temp1/"

Do I have to create a separate install file from scratch? how? :(

@ maraya

You need to launch Artisteer in Standard mode in order to enable Joomla export.

Hansani Piyumali, please contact us directly via http://www.artisteer.com/Default.aspx?p=support with the issue details such as an error message text if there is any and your exact Artisteer and Joomla version numbers. Also please let us know if you cannot upload any template, even a start blank one, or just a specific template. Thanks for this.

I had the same problem. XML File not found. By reading the error messages, I found out, that the directory /home/httpd/docs/customer/templates was write protected. By assigning 777 to that directory, it worked.

Amendment:

The directory /home/httpd/customer/tmp has also be writable. That's the place, where Joomla wants to store the .xml file.
