How to use HTML page for homepage, wordpress theme for other pages |

Good day all,
First of all. I'm not a whizkid with html and PHP ;)
I've created a wordpress template in artisteer. Works great I have to say. My next step is to create a homepage (not blogpage) with more columns. This is easy to do with HTML PAGE Theme (Webdevolopers Templates). Header and footer, fonts remains the same when you switch from Wordpress template to HTML Page. Except, HTML PAGE gives my the options to work with these columns like a professional homepage.
My question is, when you export this to a map you get a Page.HTML + CSS sheets and Images. But how can i put this in my FTP so it works as homepage?
Regards,
Theo
Ps. I know how you can make a different page.php (f.e. forums and landingpages) but don't know how to include this page.html file.

In your .htaccess, - "DirectoryIndex page.html index.php"
Artisteer uses page.html, and wordpress uses index.php by default. By setting up your .htaccess to do this, you are overwriting apache's default order in which it serves these index files. If your host allows you to use a .htaccess file, you shouldn't have any problems creating your landing / splash page.

Can anyone explain this a little better for those of us who do not know html? I am trying to create one page that is a WP blog, which will link from an html home page created by artisteer. I would really appreciate any advice on how to do this!!
Thank you!

I am creating a site, and am a designer by trade. How do I simply save it as a .html only for a website I am creating? Normally I use Dreamweaver, but I don't see a way to save the file that way.
Thanks,
Lynn
