I personally use one of the Blumentals products.
http://www.blumentals.net/
Under active development for a long time !

If you don't want to spend money check out:
http://www.htmlkit.com/
or
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm
cheers Dave

Kompozer may also be helpful.

second for kompozer - it is free as well and it is possible to design without needing much html knowledge. Otherwise you can check out netobjects fusion, you pay for it but it has good reviews. Don't knoqw if you can edit artisteer tho.

@blue sky - I used to be a beta tester for NOF years ago, and vowed never to go near it again ! It is WYSIWYG and I got so frustrated with it in the end!

cheers Dave

I have used Dreamweaver cs4, Expression Web. Kompozer, Front Page
and so far the best one is SeaMonkey. by far.
If anyone has a better editor please let us know.
Good luck.

I am not a not a web developer or designer. So excuse my ignorance. I do have NetObjects Fusion 11 but I am having difficulty importing the CSS from Artisteer. I know this might be a question to Ask NOF support but it would be great if someone on this forum that has gone though the motions can give some hints and tips. :-(

Thanks

I must join Dave here, no doubt if there is a open source alterntive, I would use it, but as far as editors goes, the editors from Blumental, are the best, and not that expensive, personally I use the RapidPHP and it does the job for me, try it out. 30 days for free.
And for the record, I'm only a user and my only interest is to point towards a very good editor.
They also offer a free editor, The FreeCss Toolbox, and it handles the html too, if I remember correct.

Kindly regards dadman.

I have some old Article Managers made by http://www.interactivetools.com/ which they on longer offers I would like to use artisteer with but I can't figure out how to get the html export from artisteer to uploaded correctly. So ... I have trying to figure out a way another way to do a web site, I would prefer software I can edit in the web page design and upload instead of getting into a CMS. I hate trying to keep up with CMS patches.

I looked at SeaMonkey and I see the html editing part but how do you do the navigation? Do you update it by hand?

Thanks

Thanks

I have been using Coffee Cup editor. I normally use Dreamweaver, but have found it lags a bit. Coffee Cup handles very well and doesnt hog your system like Dreamweaver. I only use Coffee Cup when editing Artisteer code.

I use free PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript editor - Codelobster PHP Edition. It has also special plug-ins for Joomla, Drupal and WordPress.

My favorite editor is the one built into Artisteer 3.0! :-) I don't need Dreamweaver $$ anymore! I can't believe how cheap Artisteer is compared to Dreamweaver.

I have to agree..... I don't see the point of this discussion anymore with Artisteer 3 on the horizon. Maybe if you want to add PHP code to the finished product, but if you are able to do that then maybe you don't actually need the functionality anyway..... Just use whatever good HTML/PHP editor you choose to use...

I might be of the marke here and excuse me if that is the case. But now that Artisteer has a web design component, it would be great to have an import facility to import existing html pages. Then one can spruce up existing html pages:-)
