Picasa and Imageshack FTP problems

I am currently testing v. 2.3 for Mac before I purchase it. I have made Blogger templates and am having problems exporting my template/graphics to Imageshack or Picasa. Using the FTP option to upload to my own server works GREAT, and if I use this for my own blog(s), that'll be perfect. But if I want to create blogger templates for others, I don't want to store the graphics on my own server. So when I try uploading to imageshack or Picasa through Artisteer, it gives me an error and stops exporting. Is there any trick to getting it to work with either of those other 2 hosting services? The thought of manually uploading to imageshack, and then manually changing the urls in the xml file to be those quirky imageshack urls sounds dreadful.

are you trying to export flash file as well?

what happened to me is that, when i was trying export template with a flash animation there was a problem.

it was fine with my own ftp.

when exporting, pay attention what file is exported at the time of error.

basicly, i think that picassa takes graphic only, imageshack as well..but not 100% sure...

No, there was no flash file. I was just exporting graphic files (jpg, png as output by Artisteer) via the export menu. Neither Imageshack or Picasa worked. I had signed up for an account with both too.

That's ok though...I hate having to use those awful long jumbledy urls they give you. I'll just host them on my own domain, I guess.

Not sure why you are saying that neither ImageShack or Picasa worked without seeing what you have tried. However, the following article gives you some great alternatives:

Further instructions:

Beside Picasa and ImageShack, there's also Photobucket.com for a free online storage of images and probably many others.

Sylvain

In Artisteer I go to Export. It makes me enter my blogger name and password. I do that. I wait a second while it verifies, and it gives me a list of my blogs. I select the blog I want. Then I go to the Options button in the dialog box. Under the Blogger tab, there's an "Images" area. It gives a list of hosting options: FTP, Imageshack and Picasa. I select Imageshack. I don't enter a password or user name because it is optional. I select "OK". Then I select "Publish". It tries to upload to Imageshack. Then I get an Error dialog box. It says: "Error - Publishing Failed. Error Uploading Image." Then I try it with my passwords. I get the same error message.

So let's try it with Picasa.
I go through the same steps, except I select Picasa instead. This time I get another Error message. It reads "Error - Publishing Failed. Can't get album list from image server."

So I try FTP as per the instructions here: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_blogger
Works like a charm.

So the problem seems to be with Imageshack and Picasa. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

OK, I guess I wasn't properly logged into Picasa before (I thought I was...confusing). Now it seems to work fine with Picasa. Imageshack not so much.

Haven't ever used these image hosting services before...always used my own websites/ftp, so excuse my ignorance.

There have been some reports that we Picasa and Windows Live Writer, you must have at least one image uploaded on Picasa for the system to work and WLW to be able to automatically upload images to the blog.

Maybe this was the same thing here with Picasa or something like that.

Best,
Sylvain
