Problems with borders in DNN modules

As I'm working through trying to work with artisteer and DNN I'm finding on of my primary problems is that the artisteer exported themes seem to render a mess of borders in modules. I've tried setting the border thickness to 0 in the module settings but that doesn't seem to help. The forum module is particularly brutal.

I've been trying to work around this by applying alternate containers but then I'm of course sacrificing the quality and look of the site.

I'm realizing that this is probably not an issue that is isolated to artisteer themes but more of an issue of how modules in DNN inherit (or don't inherit) the styles.

Just looking for suggestions or workarounds if anyone has them.

Make sure you set your table borders in articles to 0. Also - there wass supposed to be a "fix" in the last 2.3 release for the forum module. I don't know what that included as I user Active Forums and not core forums on my sites.

Lastly, using a tool like FireFox CSS Inspector might help identify the problem children in CSS.

Thanks a bunch for your quick response and help. Setting the table borders in articles to 0 was the trick and has made the announcement module quite usable. In general I'm having more issues with DNN and switching between different skins for admin/host so I'm either missing a simple process or there are some bugs in DNN itself. Each step though brings me a lot closer.

I've still got issues with the core forum module and the colors and all that. I'm assuming active forums handles that better? The stock modules in DNN are not all that great anyway so I'm looking for alternatives for articles, blogs, and forums. And I have a hunch that the built in forum module would likely render bizarre regardless of the skin origin. So part of this is trying to not just figure out what we need from artisteer but also working around some of the weirdness in DNN.

I have tried both the DNN forum module and Active Forums and still have issues with Artisteer skins both for forum display and the editor for adding a topic reply. Using FireBug and Firefox still could not isolate the correct CSS to fix the problem with Actice Forums.

Here is what I have found so far:

1) There are multiple Artisteer 2.3 versions. Version 2.3.0.23326 alone solves the DNN forum module

2) The problem is caused by the Artisteer container for both DNN Forum and AF.

I tried turning off the module display option and that works for DNN Forum. I also tried using a generic DNN container and applying color to match the skin. That works for both forums. When I have a chance I'll wade through the The Artisteer container CSS.

Hope this helps?

Active Forums is "THE" forum to use on DNN. The core forum is getting better but it's no where near AF. They have a free version (limited) so you can try it before you buy it.

It does seem like you need to tweak those modules quite a bit to get the looking good on an Artisteer generated skin. It can be done.
