I created a template and uploaded and all seems to be fine except i can not create linebreaks . Even if i add it to the html code in the editor its being stripped out.
Is that a template issue ?

Can't you insert line breaks by adding two <br /> <br /> tags in HTML mode of your editor

Try replacing your default editor with "fckeditor-for-wordpress-plugin"
