Hi al,
I am wondering how to do the following. One my front page I want to categories and only one post from each.
So the page would would look like this:
HEADER
MENU
LATEST BLOG FROM JACK
LATEST BLOG FROM JILL
FOOTER
How can I do this? I tried a few things but they broke the template.

You could do this using the views module

sorry, that's a drupal module... You can do it in the Reading section under settings

You can display two categories manually using Categories template tag, following documentation page may be helpful:
