http://www.themakeupsnob.com/ Is there anything I can do diffrently to speed this up. I never had this problem before adding the new template.

Thanks in advance, Sara

I know EXACTLY what you mean. It is problem with artisteer templates for blogger plus adsense ads in IE7/IE8 that makes the blog hang 3 times more than with other browsers even if everything is loaded.

Please, please, report it to Artisteer too. i will be doing same again.

Adsense ALWAYS has taken twice (at least) to load in IE. I seriously think Google does it on purpose. but i can tell you that the loading time for a user when visiting your site in IE7/IE8 will vary extremely as that hang is processed by the same porcentage of CPU and broadband regardless of the computer. So for example i visited your site in a old pc in a 2mb line and sure enough. It takes 50-55seconds to load in IE7/IE8 compared to -10-15 in Iron4/Chrome 4 and 15-20 in Firefox 3.5 or Opera 10. Visited in a netbook and the time in IE7/IE8 goes down to 30/35, Iron4/Chrome 4 is 10-12 and 14-17 in Firefox 3.5 or Opera 10.

You can do the same test in my site www.Appatic.com and you will see the same results that in yours based on what i told you.

However, for example a friend with gaming pc (high-end) and 10mb line tells me it loads up in 5-10 seconds for him in IE8. I just yesterday proved my theory by making a blog clone without the ads. the result was that it took 20 seconds to load in IE8 in the old pc and 15 in the netbook. So, it is the adsense + the artisteer template. I previous had the same add in a simple template i modified and the load time was 15 seconds in the netbook WITH the ads if loading the page in IE8.

So, big problem really. i will let Artisteer also know of this. you do the same (feedback in the software) and include a link to your site.

Sorry for the long explanation, but it was the better way to bring up the case with examples and not just a vague idea.

*The times i quote are for loading the homepage and not a post page that will of course be twice as fast.

@AvatarX: I'm in the process of looking into this. I would like if you could take a look at http://coding-paparazzi.sylvainlafontaine.com/ and tell me if it's now running at a decent speed even on your old PC.

Thanks,

Sara,

Your website is pulling up just fine for me but my connection to the internet is pretty fast. After looking at your website I noticed that you have several images that in the BMP format, and JPG's that are over 2000px x 1000x in size. This is probably where your problems are. Make sure you resize your images to the size that you see them on your main page in each post. Try resizing them to 460x360 and see if that helps. Also you may want to up the compression ratio on the JPG format to around 85% and convert all BMP's to JPG's.

Good luck,
Rick
