What image type to replace people.

When adding the people (models) on to a banner, I noticed there is no background to them - which is great. What if I wanted to have my own picture of people in the banners? What type of image can I source to use that will have no bg like that?

Marty,

The images objects used in Artisteer are licensed to us by a third party. They are not editable formats and are not to be used in production templates. They are there for demonstration purposes only.

If you would like to include your own image object, you can upload one using the Header > Foreground or Background picture options. The most appropriate formats for photographic images are .jpg and .png. If you do not want the background, you can use an image editing program to remove the background and make it transparent.

In addition, Artisteer in its current iteration, allows only one Header image or background import.

There may be a situation where you need to place other images or objects in the Header after you export a template, and a transparency is the best solution.

At myArtisteer.com there is an article, "Set your own logo", as well as templates which you can download that both discuss and show you how to do this.

For example, the following template actually has three images imported into the Header after export:
- The Logo name, Cyber Sleuth
- Magnifying glass
- The word "Exposed" within the magnifying glass

I look forward to a future Artisteer release that allows the import and placement of multiple objects into the Header.

Hello,

do you change the policy? In the past, using the header photos for own templetas was ok. It was not allowed to give them away to other people.

Now we can not use the photos at all?

Hi,

this is from the FAQ

Can I resell or redistribute exported Wordpress™, Joomla!™, Drupal™ and Web Templates?

Yes, as long as you do not include Artisteer photo objects within your header (Header -> Foreground Photo), as those photos are licensed from a 3rd party only for your own use or in your consulting work. You may re-distribute any other designs you create, including those with Artisteer header background photos (Header -> Background), glares, page backgrounds and other provided graphics, and your own photo objects. NOTE: The above restriction applies only to templates created for sale. There are not restrictions on creating individual web designs and templates for yourself and your clients.

I use the "From File..." function under "Foreground Photo", "Header" Menu, and change the photo. However it doesn't blend into the header background photo. The foreground photo image has white background which is displayed on top of the header background. Is there a way to blend the photo into the background?

bigal,

Remove the background from your image and save it with transparent background. The image formats that can have transparent backgrounds are .gif and .png. I would recommend using .png with 24bit transparency. Any decent photo/image editor should have this capability. Gimp and Paint.NET are two free image editing software that might be useful to you.

Hi,

I just purchase and start using artisteer. the question im about to ask is this:

i have put my personal image on the header. but what i want is, i want top of my picture to be able to displayed beyond the header size. so, for example if i got an image of a man standing. i want the lower part of the body inside the header while top of the body displayed outside the header top.

so it gave an impression that the picture displayed beyond the header. can i do that using artisteer?

apreciated if there are any solution for this.

cemble.

Just thought would add that to have a transparent background, the image must be in png or gif format

Something I have done is create a background image that has the larger image in it. Then set back ground to be centered. Then use same back gorund image in the header, by adjusting the header image you can make it align with the background image and get the appearance of object extending beyond the header. Of course you need to turn off any borders around the header.

I loaded my picture and it was way too big. What size do I need to being it down too in pixels or size to be able to bring it into this tool for a header object?

Thanks,
Dave 8-)

@Dave - It depends on the size of your header - this is determined by you!
Check out it's size and match your image accordingly...

I think it should be between 1000x200 to 1500x500 px
