is there anyway to fix the background in Artisteer. I tried this in CSS and the background does fix but there is another layer that follows the page too???

You will need to modify the CSS to achieve this.
The rules that control this are something like this:
background-image: url("/images/image.gif");
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-attachment: fixed

You should change the color of sheet in your CSS

Sorry I should have explaned. I have already used Background-attachment: fixed but there seems to be two copies of the background image and one of them follows the the page regardless
I think it is a Div attached to the page with the background image. I suspect it is for the shadow effect and this follows the scrolling of the page thus the background is fixed but it seems to duplicate and one layer follows.
Any ideas?

Hello...Does anyone know how to place a background image that follows the pages? I use dual monitors and when I expand it to see the website in both monitors the background stays and the pages move....so the page is off the background. Any help would be appreciated...thanks

You should try following:
Background-> options-> texture position-> scrolling-> scroll
