Hi, I'm planning to use Wordpress not as blog, but as a website.
I'll add 6 to 10 pages and rarely add new content.

Should I turn my WP installation static?

I heard that wordpress is great for SEO, but if you don't feed it with content, google will drop you. I know there is a general SEO recommendation "fresh content = higher rankings", but, will google drop my website just because I'm using a blog system as my homepage?

Anybody here have any experience with WP as website?

Thank you! ;)

Lot of people are using wordpress just as website not as blog as it best at SEO and it is a good CMS.

What do you mean if you say about turning your installation static.

As I said wordpress is best at SEO, one point supporting that is webmasters update is content frequently. There is no problem at all if you are using blog at your home page as Google treat every page as an individual entity and assign it a page rank.

You should install and configure a plugin named "all-in-one-SEO-pack" on your wordpress site to optimize it for search engines

I make sites like this all the time and they perform very very well in the search engines. I have no complaints. Writing blog articles is good also, but the absence of fresh blog articles will not torpedo the performance of a static site.

Fresh content is considered as one point in SEO but entire search engine optimization process is based on lottt of things.

Bassman,

WordPress is a full fledge CMS and we used it for many business sites for our clients.

What is your URL? And your business? SEO is not all to get better return on your investment on the site and business. More can be done to use Internet as a great way for inbound marketing.
