Theme without header

Is it possible to make a theme without the header box? If I change the headerimage into a transparent one, I nevertheless have a headerbox with the color of the content box. Perhaps my English is not good enough to explain, what I mean. Please look here: http://www.mainzauber.de/blog/2009/06/23/blog-umfunktioniert/
In the third example I filled the transparent headerimage with a part of the backgroundphoto. But for all that it remains a header! I would like to have a theme with background, menus and content - and the name of the blog just on the background, anywhere on top. Perhaps you look at the blog of a freind of mine: http://www.blechi-b.de/blog/index.php

That's what I mean. Is it possible?
Thanks for all
Elke

Excellent question, I too am looking into this issue and would love to know if you find a solution.

It appears that the graphic is overlayed using a PNG file, which is actually part of the background image, so yes I think it should be possible, but someone with more experience modifying themes may have more details for you.

I would certainly love to have more control over the header or no header function in themes generated by artisteer.

It's simple O:)
Last night I tried and tried and tried . . . but now I think, it is really simple. You go to "layout" and take the simple one (without menu, without header). Than you can change the topborder until 200 px ( perhaps I can do more in the Wp editor). In PSP or something like this I can make my own background graphic with title and all I want to show there. I think, that's it! I will try.

You can also create your theme and upload it as a complete theme with a header the size you want. Then download Header.jpg from the themes image folder. Load it up in your graphic editor and change it to whatever you want and save it as a .png or .gif with whatever transparency you want. Then re-upload it and in your css file change background image from Header.jpg to your new file name. Header.png or Header.gif. Only restriction is that your header will be the same size as the width of the sheet.

Thanks Bob, I did this already. But besides the size, the next problem is that you will see the color of the sheet. No, I think you have to work with the "simple" layout without any header.

Yes you will see the sheet color so what I have done in a few instances is to use a backgound image in conjuntion with the transparent header image and managed to get the look I wanted. This is all after the Artisteer theme was created though.

I've written a tutorial on achieving this by editing the exported files. Unfortunately, the tutorial needs a slight adjustment since in a recent version, Artisteer has slightly altered the names of its styles. If you don't have one of the more recent versions of Artisteer, this tutorial should still be perfectly applicable. But even given the minor adjustment in the latest versions ("art-" prefix has been added to style names to avoid confusion with CMS-used styles), the tutorial should still be relatively easy to use.

Hallo David,
I just looked at your tutorial. Don't know, if I can understand it totally but I think so and I will try. Everything can be changed in the wordpress editor?

Thanks - Elke :-)
