You can insert following code to the top of any template files in your wordpress theme to start using it as indivisual template and assign it to any page from your wordpress admin

/**
* @package WordPress
* @subpackage Default_Theme
*/

Artisteer creates the basic template for you. Then you can copy your page.php file and create different page templates by inserting the template cope at the top as Garry says and then saving it as another name.php and uploading it to the same place page.php is located in your theme folder. So YES you can create various page templates but NO Artisteer does not do this for you. Some of the free themes I have on my site have multiple page templates like full width pages and site index pages and you are welcome to download them and take a look as an example.

I added this to page.php and page1,php and uploaded to server...

/**
* @package WordPress
* @subpackage Default_Theme
*/

But I still only have one choice "Default Template" in the drop down. What am I doing wrong?

Put the following at the top of the page of your new template. Don't put it in page.php.

<?php

/*

Template Name: Page Full

*/

?>

When you publish a page you should see the Template Name as a choice of templates to use.

Are you able to make the background change to the background of another template for each page? I tried this and can only get the post area to change.

Thanks Very Much
David

I know absolutely NOTHING about web design, or FTs, or phps. or pee pees. It's all greek and completely frustrating to me. I spent a weekend pulling my hair out using a GoDaddy website tonight template and finally had a template, and design that I liked. Then... I was advised NOT to use Website Tonight for an e-commerce site.

"Everyone" says to use Wordpress because of its ease of use. Now I've spent another weekend pulling my hair out because you really cannot customize without knowing all the alphabet soup.

I watched a demo on another website of this product. It SOUNDS like it could be what I need. BUT....will the product allow me to make it do considering I know NOTHING about any of this stuff? I was getting excited about the product until I saw some of the questions above. Now I'm afraid if I purchase I may still end up bald.

(Honest) feedback please!

You would certainly be able to build a template or theme even just using the "Suggest Layout" button but from what you said you would probably still have a tough time creating articles, laying out the site, figuring out where to put a widget or maybe just how to install a plugin. No matter what you do there is a learning curve especially when it comes to customizing. Even editing,cropping, resizing an image for web and then uploading is a challenge for many people I have worked with. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Artisteer but just as an accounting package does not make one an accountant a template builder package does not make one a web designer. You might want to Google "shopping cart sites" or something like that to find an eCommerce solution that just requires you to add product and not worry about customization unless of course you are willing to deal with the previously mentioned learning curve. I hope you find a solution you can live with.
