Some days ago I discovered Artisteer 2 and purchased a copy. Just playing around, I could not find a way arrange the bunch of modulpositions. Are the positions limited to fixed places selectable in 'Layouts' ? Whats about customizable layouts ? Do I expect too much from the product ?

Look at the forums at artisteerhelp.com - one post has a layout of the Joomla template module positions.

So are you saying that we can spend 10 hours playing in Artisteer, but will only be able to have 1 layout option in the end in Joomla? I'm so frustrated that I get my webpage the way I want it in Artisteer, but when I install it into Joomla, it's just not the same. I loos the menu across the top, my rounded corners, my "search" won't appear, and I do have it activated.

Also frustrated that I can't add more than 2 lines in the header. I put a photo in the header, and would like to put the name of the person in the photo under the photo in the header.

All Joomla templates created by Artisteer will have the same basic layout / positions. You are talking about several different issues though it seems.

The top menu has to be assigned to the user3 position for it to work.
Rounded corners work fine, a URL would be helpful for us to look at your site to see whats wrong.
Did you assign "search" to an available position (for example user4 or left) and is it set to display on all pages or just some?

You will be limited on the text you can put in the header by the font size being used and space made available for it.
If you want a name under a picture in the header, you are best off adding it into the graphic itself.

What you see in Artisteer is what you will get when you load the template, at most there may be a few settings you have to change in Joomla.

We have been designing professional templates for Joomla for more that 2. years now. Artisteer is amazing and does give you exactly what you see. Most people do not understand you have to place/tie module positions to the ones provided in the template.

See the positions for Artisteer 2.1 templates here

http://www.artisteer.com/?p=help_joomla#joomla4

and use them in Joomla backend:

Extensions -> Module manager -> "Select your module" -> Position

So If I want to use frontpage slideshow in the banner position.. I would go into the back end of joomla and manage my mods. I would choose FPslideshow and click "banner1" for position then add one of the suffixes: art-article, art-block or art-nostyle?

I couldnt get it to work before but will try it this way.

Thanks
