I think Artisteer is great but in Joomla templates i need buttons rather than text links, sort of the "User 3" menu style in other menus
I cant see a way of doing this

I would like to know how to do this as well. I just purchased Artisteer Standard Edition a couple of weeks ago and am now questioning whether Artisteer can do this at the request of a customer

At this time no the menus created are not made that way.
You would have to do some manual edits to the template or install a module or plugin on your Joomla site to create this type of menu.
