My computer run under Ubuntu 8.0.4 and I use also Virtual Box with Window XP. I have installed Artisteer and it run but unfortunately not well...I get some problem especially with Header and Background image...It is impossible to see that kind of image...Anytime I add/change something I see for example the header for half second and it disappear immediately...If I export a template and install it on Joomla the header are present...I have try Artisteer on my job desktop and I don't have this problem...

Hope you will fix this kind of incompatibility soon...I know it is not your priority to make compatible your software for Linux user anyway Artisteer run almost well..I just necessary to fix some point...

You could try upgrading to Ubuntu 9.04. I will be trying this combination shortly and will report back soon.

Just confirming I am running the following configuration with none of the problems you have described:

Dell Latitude D630
Ubuntu 9.04
Sun Virtual Box 2.2.2
Artisteer 2.2

I realize this thread is old but it applies to me so I'm carrying it on.

I too have some quirky business going on w/ Syn VirtualBox. I'm running Ubuntu 9.1 (Xubuntu w/ Xfce)

When I try to open my list of header glares or background photos the menu is empty. If I move my mouse over the "down arrow" at the bottom (like to scroll further down the list of glares) all of the glares appear and then disappear before I can choose one.

After about 30 attempts I managed to keep them visible long enough to choose one. Of course, it doesn't look as good as I thought it would and I want a different one, so another 20 or 30 trys to choose a different one.

If I could figure out just the right way to hold my mouse and maje it work, I'd be happy!

Also, when I change my header and slogan, it exports with the old copy.
I can save it, open it, and on-screen it still looks correct. When I install it on my site, it has the old header.

It also keeps changing the actual edit boxes to say "Header" and "Slogan Text" every time I close them. Yet, the edited header shows on-screen as correct. Unless you edit one of them and not the other, then it will revert back to the default.

I wonder if maybe I don't need to allocate a bit more memory to the virtual box. Artisteer seems to respond a tad slowly, like there's a resource issue.

Perhaps there isn't enough room in it's stack to keep all those glares (and other things) on the drop-down list. Maybe that stack is full, and every drop-down will do that? (last night I had some issues with another drop-down but I don't remember which)

All of these seem to have a common denominator. If anyone else is running Sun VB please let me know how you solved this. I have 2gb RAM on this machine, and with Xfce I should be able to allocate a little more space for Sun VB. I'll try that and post the results.

I don't have any real windows PC's, I had to install this to run Artisteer (because I think it's cool) But right now, it's not productive, which was the whole point! Heheheh

It's not Artisteers problem. I've run it successfully on their supported platforms. Developers are free to work with whatever they want to. I've written in COBOL, because thats what the job called for. I'd rather shoot myself than work with .NET, but hey, that's just me . . . :)

Please offer any advice - anyone . . .
